Yes, it’s necessary for Real ID. But there are non-citizens who can get Real ID, so a Real ID still doesn’t prove citizenship, except in the 5 States that also offer Enhanced ID.

Conservatives, especially evangelical Christians, will tell you that they’re living with Heaven in mind, so earthly outcomes don’t matter as much to them. Which is why I don’t understand why a handful of issues (LGBTQ+ and abortion, primarily) DO matter so much to them, over everything else.
