Still unconvinced of corporate ownership of media, but I hear some of the fun people are here. Find me more so on Mastodon.

Every enemy in Silksong has at least one attack where they go like this and it does five hearts of damage and has no counter.

This was extra weird in Canada where, because of the metric system, we had problems with conversion on our save files. The vending machines just couldn’t handle it at the time.

So this morning I get an urgent email for a same day cardiology appointment at my local treatment centre.

I was surprised (and alarmed) but fine. I moved things around and went there a few minutes ago.

Only there was no real appointment. The receptionist said I wasn't supposed to receive any 1/

a bunny on a balcony faces another bunny on a different balcony opposite theirs. They are in neighboring apartment complexes. The two bunnies each hold one end of a rope, and bunny on the left passes a bucket with flowers down the rope to the bunny on the right.

So it has been one year since I had a stroke, a thing that almost killed me and landed me in the hospital for nearly a month.

I opened this thinking I’d have a lot to say about it and I don’t, really. Don’t ignore health issues even if they seem minor.

A screen shot of a table shows an increase of 1,045 FTE certificated teachers working in AB in 2025-26 compared to 2024-25.

The promise of 3,000 more new Alberta teachers has confounded me. We don't know how many teachers the government planned to hire over 3 years, but the 2025 budget documents (from Feb. 2025) tell us the gov't intended to pay for 1,045 more FTE teaching positions this year compared to last

Hi Bluesky πŸ‘‹

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧡

The fact that 30% of our stock market is wrapped up in β€œhelp-kids-kill-themselves” technology seems to be an important datapoint in the evolution of late stage capitalism.

A comic of two foxes, one of whom is blue, the other is green. In this one, Blue jumps in shock as Green floats idly by him.
Green: I don't feel like doing today.

Blue turns his head to follow where Green is going as Green floats further away.
Blue: Doing what today?
Green: Just the whole day. Any of it.

As Green drifts out of sight, Blue raises his eyebrow, puzzled, watching where Green drifted off to.
Blue: Also why are you floating?
Green, out of frame: I got excommuned by gravity.

Blue stares after Green, now in blank bafflement.
Blue: ...What?

A Discovery Channel store from the 1990s. Shelves are filled with books, globes and model planes. A large telescope is displayed in the foreground, and an interactive kiosk sits in the background. Halogen lights make the lighting dramatic, highlighting the displays, and an illuminated panel shows an image of the Moon.

The mysterious results of Voting Station 408 I am fascinated by a story that features a glaring statistical anomaly, destroyed evidence, unwitting politicos and the thrill of election night.

I think for me the most compelling answer for "why fund basic research?" (and the one most relevant to the people doing the work) is that humans are curious and finding stuff out makes us happy and fulfilled. Science is a thing humans like. Life would be more dull and sad if we didn't do it.
