Tangentially related: Have you read the Kingkiller Chronicles and the Slow Regard for Silent Things? Because there's some high quality sewer/architectural shenanigans in those books.

Honestly, there's some interesting tunnel history near where I live, and having been reared on The Great Mouse Detective, various flavors of Batman, and spelunking, I see the appeal of a gaudy sewer palace.
Nothing quite like blasting the soundtrack to a scene that literally involves a serial killer who lives in a gaudy sewer palace manipulating + trying to control a vulnerable young woman he's obsessed with to dispel the rampant "probably killed the pedophile predator who had dirt on me" suspicions...

The weirdest thing about this discourse is that states with shorter school closures have the same amount of learning loss! I keep waiting for all the punditry on this to catch up with basic facts

Teen Vogue did some terrific work. Great story here on Teen Vogue and how the Vogue/Conde Nast bosses seem like the "liberal" types who have been eager to use Trump's rise as a pretext to silence progressives/leftists they disagree with. www.cjr.org/feature/the-...

This goes for Minneapolis too. Last I knew, they were getting a big discount on HOME Line's services, a ~$150k underpay. And that's based on HOME Line's very modest budget, where none of us were paid much. I made $58,000/year at the end. Our ED made like $72k. Not the nonprofit industrial complex.

Are you committed to using Substack? I'm very curious about your work, but I and many others boycott that platform.
I also ask bc beehiiv might be more aligned with your writing and audience as a platform, and it could provide you subs + other options for revenue that don't take a cut from you. ๐

Green and red aurora streaking upwards towards the stars behind the black silhouette of a tree-lined hill.
Green aurora ribbons stretch across the sky like tentacles hugging a pink burst in the center above a cluster of trees.
Green, gold, and red aurora bands with stars peeking through over a country road lit by the headlights of a parked car.
Bright green aurora flares in a gap between trees and diffuses into pinks and purples, with headlights lighting the tall dry grass in the foreground.
This planet is so beautiful.
