Film still of Isabella Rossellini from Wild at Heart (1990)
Wild at Heart, a piece by Cole Lu from April 2017 at the Militzer Gallery in St. Louis.
Wild at Heart (1990) by David Lynch is finally streaming after being completely unavailable online for years. I do regret not buying the art piece on the right by Cole Lu when I had a chance back in 2017.

Cloud Land / Flashes In The Afternoon, by Stereolab
2 track album
Just a quick reminder that last fall's tour single from @stereolabgroop.bsky.social is now out digitally as of yesterday. And it is quite great, naturally.

BASH: Is this measles outbreak a consequence of the administration undermining support for vaccines?
DR OZ: I don't believe so. Secretary Kennedy has been advocating for measles vaccines
BASH: Oh, come on

I was a psychology major as an undergrad (and studio art double major), and I enjoyed the wholly unethical, likely nonsensical, psychological study itself. Not gonna lie, I couldn’t keep up with all of it. I probably need someone to explain parts of it to me?

STEREO - Cronenberg - TRAILER
I really liked this? I won’t watch it a second time but I fucking loved the educational instructional film format, I liked that it was a prequel to scanners, I liked its horniness, I liked that Cronenberg made it on the U of T campus, I like Ronald Mlodzik as a total telepathic weirdo.

Movie poster for Shivers. I liked it a lot in a campy, horny, body horror kinda way.
I think I like Cronenberg most when he is really, really horny. It felt super Canadian. Lots of fun.

Movie poster for Cosmopolis. Honestly this movie bored me. I did not pay close attention to any of the themes but I do remember he was a billionaire in a limo. I dislike long boring monologues and there were many in this movie.
Movie poster for the dead zone. It was fine but not my favorite Cronenberg. I do love Christopher Walken in the 1980s.
These two Cronenberg movies feel kinda topical? The majority of Cosmopolis takes place in a limo while people riot in the streets directly outside, and Christopher Walker’s character in The Dead Zone spends part of the movie trying to kill off a Trump-like narcissist who wants to become president

Evidence left by a bird in the snow. Likely a bird swooped down to kill something small? but oh my god the wing feather and tail feather prints left behind!

Double exposure of artist in his studio, at first horizontal and erect between two chairs, and then slumped on the floor in defeat. His effort did not cause levitation.

James Spader, Deborah Unger in the grass together in 1996. Their detached fetishism and eroticism as they move through a multiple car crash scene reminded me of Kelly-Ann’s bizarre escalation of behaviors in Red Rooms (2023). People do strange things when they are aroused I guess.
More Cronenberg. At this point I’ll watch them all, why not?

I get tired of saying it, but I’ll say it again: the nature of oppression in America is that they workshop it first on Black, Latino, Asian & Native people.
But it is always, in the end, coming for everyone.
