I hope the Commission made it clear that the €600β€―billion figure of course refers to current prices - and that most of it will be mobilised through EIB loans, with a leverage ratio of approximately 1:19.

Gamers flood EU consultation in push for rules to make sure the fun never stops - Euractiv The public consultation on the EU's Digital Fairness Act has received close to 3,000 responses in two weeks – mostly from videogamers.

I thought this was about graphic (murderous) games, but it is actually about companies pulling online support -- not quite sure what EU rules try to achieve here

Brussels stalls on Chinese solar supply chain probe - Euractiv Experts warn time is running out as Chinese solar tech floods EU ports with little oversight

The EU has yet to launch its probe into cybersecurity issues in the (Chinese) solar supply chain and is instead heading off into summer, we can share.

Europe dodged a trade war, but its electricity market is broken - Euractiv Europe may have dodged a trade war with the US, but without urgent electricity market reform, its industrial competitiveness remains dangerously exposed to fossil fuel volatility.

There must always be a Greek man to fight the windmills of marginal power pricing, it is a law unto nature!

The farmer subsidy cut is almost twice what the Commission says - Euractiv The proposed budget will bring a €155 billion cut to EU farmer subsidies. But the unpalatable news is hidden by inflation and ambiguity surrounding the budget's new structure.

ICYMI: My colleague Jacob has crunched the numbers and the de facto proposed cut to EU subsidies for farmers (CAP) is ... 34% !!!

Do the crime, do the time, he said. Yet, and this may be a strawman so let me know, are you and the relevant movements not condemning authorities for enforcing the law itself?

Also, unlike MLK they do not have Supreme Court backing on this?

MLK himself had a very nuanced view

What is wrong with that statement you QT?

Do you think it is just to selectively disobey laws legitimised by a democratic system? Is that not just vigilantism?

29.07.2025 09:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 6    πŸ“Œ 0

Rather, are you not stealing valour from the heroics of your ancestors while delegitimising today's system (arguably the best ever) in order to push along policy aligned with your normative woldview?

29.07.2025 09:09 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

You could, of course, argue that the law in question was immoral by virtue of its existence given it did not arise from a democratic system of checks and balances

I think you can not easily compare laws as they exist in Western democracies to those put in place under fascist rule

LIVE: 'Most ambitious ever': Von der Leyen presents historic €2 trillion budget plan - Euractiv Euractiv's newsroom dives deep into what's going on with the bloc's 2028-2034 multiannual financial framework – from agrifood to tech, from defence to the economy.

What a day actually!

CEF-E (my favourite budget line) got increased by 500%.

CAP funds cut by 30%.

MFF almost €2 trillion and finally breaks the 1% of GDP for budget norm.

And our liveblog (which you should re-read) had it all:
