Giants should move on this. I like Bleday's bat quite a bit more than Gilbert's.

I'm surprised Gallen didn't accept. I know MLBTR has him projected for 4/80 but I can't imagine him getting that much with his declining stuff and strikeouts.

Ah, that's right. I wish FanGraphs had that built in.

Meckler is out of options.

I don't think anyone is going to take a position player with <100 upper minors PAs. I could see someone taking Roxby if he isn't protected.

Yeah... I think the Yankees made a mistake here.

Baseball.

OF options I'd be interested in: Rob Refsnyder, Willi Castro, Steven Kwan, Taylor Ward, Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds, Jasson Dominguez, Brenton Doyle, Jordan Walker, JJ Bleday

2B: Gleyber Torres, Ha-seong Kim, Jorge Polanco, Brendan Donovan, CJ Abrams, Xavier Edwards, Brandon Lowe, Luis Garcia Jr.

How does he have a 48.8% hard hit rate with 69.1 mph bat speed?

What a bizarre season. 25.1% K-BB%, 2.68 FIP, 4.79 ERA.

I wonder what Devin Williams's market will look like. Will the Yankees even make a QO?

Yes, the 4th OF position was a block hole in 2025. Easy spot to look to upgrade on the margin. They also gave a ton of PAs versus LHP to Yaz, and he was non surprisingly terrible in those PAs.

I just don't think it's worth paying much attention to single season splits vs. lefties. I wouldn't make roster decisions based around outcomes that are probably more tied to variance than anything else. Chapman and Ramos will regress positively.

Will Bednar, Braxton Roxby, and Trent Harris are all strong candidates.

He’s been below replacement level since June 1, batting .245/.322/.340. That’s a worse SLG & ISO than Patrick Bailey in that stretch

Will Heliot Ramos ever not bat leadoff?

I'll wishcast and predict Lee's bat speed returns to 2024 levels next season and he plays to a 120 wRC+. I think if he can play to this level coming off shoulder surgery, there's more upside in the bat.

Bader since 2022: 92 wRC+, 6.5 fWAR
Mullins since 2022: 101 wRC+, 8.9 fWAR

Both are four years older than Lee. Lee is comfortably better than both right now, and projects to be much better going forward.

Yes, he's better than Cedric Mullins and Harrison Bader.

$18MM AAV for a ~3 WAR player isn't an overpay.

JJ Bleday could probably be acquired for very little. I also wonder if the Pirates might be willing to trade Oneil Cruz?

The talk from the Giants FO about wanting to get better at making contact strikes me as misguided. Giants are 28th in EV90 (104.0 mph) and 26th in barrel rate (7.5%). More than anything, they need to do more damage when they make contact

The Verlander signing has exceeded my expectations. 3.88 FIP with decent volume so far. Certainly worked out better than Morton 1/15, Scherzer 1/15.5, Cobb 1/15, or Montas 2/34.

Raleigh has been in the top quartile of catchers in framing every year of his career.

There might be more offensive upside there too if the bat speed returns to pre-shoulder injury levels.

Giants should have plenty of flexibility to spend this coming offseason though, especially after escaping the luxury tax this year.
