During a shutdown, the federal government can deploy troops to invade US cities but can’t send WIC funds to states to feed infants and children. Speaks volumes about how the rules around shutdowns systematically serve GOP priorities while harming everyone else.

I was with some publishing folks recently. They said almost every pitch now is basically, “this book is just like those other books but written, bravely, BY A MAN.”
The one who could retire, did. The rest of us just got drunk

Oh. SS thinks, private insurers hate paying out even more than we do, must be a genuine claim…

My brother already has *government* disability through his job — he worked for the IRS — but can’t get approved for SSDI
But this is the second time someone has mentioned private disability insurance mandating it (could that help speed it through?)

Have you guys identified that videographer?
Would his material have been subpoenaed?
05.10.2025 16:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0
That’s pretty much just limited to lawyers themselves. My brother has some means with his job disability but lawyers aren’t allowed to make more than $2700 on an SSDI claim — fees are capped — only a lawyer working for his own behalf is set up to even be really compensated
