Something something survivorship bias

The cover of "Anti-Ice", a 1993 Stephen Baxter novel set in an alternate history steampunk world where "anti-ice" (as in "the opposite of frozen water") powers an alternate industrial revolution. The picture shows a soldier in a green 19th century era uniform on a rearing horse. Beyond him are several multi-masted ships of the area, and towering above them is a gigantic mushroom cloud, presumably from someone messing with the anti-ice.

Who wants to bet Stephen Baxter is going to run into trouble trying to get into the US (assuming he'd want to) because some Reich young thing sees this?

Surprise! It's actually a sea cucumber expelling its intestines to distract a predator while it swims away. (It can regrow them afterwards, just like a skink can regrow its tail after jettisoning it for the same reason.)

I hope this doesn't end up with them firing Kristi Noem, saying "There! You happy?" and calling it a day.
