Honk report Tuesday pm: Strong persistent honking and 1 VHC. Plus a bus driver stopped at a bus stop, just as I was walking by, open its doors to let people out, and then let out a big long honk. :-)

The police didn't do anything other than stand around and look intimidating. Anyway, just glad to know there are people doing that.

I chatted with a woman on the Metro yesterday who had a protest sign. It turns out she's been going to the Heritage Foundation several times a week to protest. A bunch of people seem to do that every day. She said the Heritage people called the police on them one day.

Another older woman walking with me said, "You should be on the news!" And another guy walking by said, "I got you! But it ain't gonna do nothing." But fortunately, I don't see it that way. :-)

Honk Report Tues AM: Really good consistent honking this morning and lots and lots of smiles. One woman who was stopped in her car at the light had her phone up taking a picture while I was crossing with the sign, so I stopped and gave a thumbs up and let her take a picture.

Honk report pm: Forgot to post an update yesterday. Continued great honking! (It’s a short update. 🙂)

I don't generally engage with negative comments, but I did turn back and give her a smile.

Honk Report PM: Even in the rain the honks were constant. Nearly every bus honked, and there were a lot of them. Best moment: Some crazy lady walking across the street was yelling, "Don't stop Trump!" And then she said, "See, no one's even honking!" And on cue 5 or 6 cars all started honking. :-)

I thanked them of course shared with them about the Honk Report protests. :-)

Turns out they are from Alaska and just flew in for a week to protest in DC. They've been spending their days just walking around the Capitol and downtown DC! So inspiring. They also explained to me how much the USPostal cuts will hurt Alaska, and gave me a great "KGB Asset, Not a King" button.

Honk Report am: Didn't have time this morning (due to 2 great Ukraine-related events I'm involved with), but on my metro ride into DC these 3 women came into the car wearing large anti-trump signs.

Honk Report PM: 3 VHCs (Virtuous Honk Circles) this afternoon! And lots of really long honks too! Best moment: I saw a kid in the front seat reaching to his parent to get them to honk and then heard it after they passed. 2nd best: 8 people at a bus stop all yelling "Honk! Honk!" :-)

8) holding the sign is good for building upper body strength (and/or irritating muscles and tendons).

6) it makes me feel more connected to all these random people who are on the same side but whom I would otherwise likely not encounter or know about; 7) it's a nice opportunity to observe the world in a way I don't otherwise do; and perhaps most importantly

4) it signals to people (even the non-honkers) that something is different since there's a guy standing on the corner with this sign; 5) it creates a sense of connection and shared will among disparate people;

1) it brings the protest to people where they are; 2) it gives people a way to protest who might not otherwise have time; 3) it leverages car horns to amplify my one human voice;

Honk Report am: More great honking. Also a guy who tried to explain that the problem isn't Trump--it's the Devil. And I have no rebuttal for that. I also was thinking about why this form of protest appeals to me:

Lastly, a guy on the corner said I should get a person on the opposite corner as well. I asked if he'd want to do it, and he said he works in the building right there and he'd love to. So we exchanged texts and hopefully he'll start joini ng me on occasion.

Also, a woman walking by said, "I see you everywhere!" When she started naming places, I said I don't go to those intersections. And she said she's seen people with a similar "Honk" sign--which means the idea is spreading.

Honk Report PM: One guy started honking in beats of 3 (e.g., Let's-Go-Mets), and then several others at the intersection started doing the same. A variation on a VHC (Virtuous Honk Circle.)

The latest crazy just proves what we all know. They are discussing everything on Signal to avoid any discovery or FOIA or archival laws. So illegal but here we are.

Honk Report pm: Out came the sun, and out came the honks! So many and so forcefully! Best moment: When a metro bus was waiting at the red light as I crossed with my sign and people started honking, I noticed the driver was nodding his head and playing his horn like an experienced drummer. :-)

Honk Report am: Great honking despite a wet, rainy Monday morning! Especially the bus drivers. My favorite moment was a guy waiting behind a few other cars at a red light who held up his hands as if to say, "I don't want the guy in front of me to think I'm honking at him." But then gave a thumbs up.
