ExoMars Schiaparelli EDM (Entry, Descent, and Landing Demonstrator Module) was meant to test technology for future soft landings on the surface of Mars but suffered from an anomaly that ultimately caused its impact on the surface. #Spacetober

NEAR (Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous) Shoemaker was the first spacecraft to orbit an asteroid (Eros) and land on it successfully. #Spacetober

(In hindsight, I wish I’d drawn it facing the other way so the solar panels were aimed at Eros’ light source. Oops!)
