Obv we have no data but out of range scores, especially if there are several, could push a 1-1-2 grant from 3% to >5%.

And out of range scoring is often because one or more reviewers give scores they cannot defend hence why a more thoughtful discussion may help

Pack rain gear if you are going to #SfN2025

triaging 2/3 of NIH grants sounds terrible but if the funding line is to remain at ~5%, this may increase the time for more thoughtful discussion of grants with top scores so that, for example, the difference between 3% vs 6% scored grants is less arbitrary and/or scores are better spread??
