You probably don’t know this but the US Supreme Court is to decide whether to ban gay marriage across the USA.

Verdict on 7th November.

Shocking implications for not only the US but for the free world.

LGBTQ rights are being eroded.

Become an LGBTQ ally. We need you. πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Nothing else has worked – so Starmer and Reeves are finally telling the truth about Brexit | Rafael Behr It is the right way to go, but taking the long way round to such an obvious point has cost Labour precious time and credibility, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

Punish Prince Andrew? This is no meritocracy, I’m afraid – you get the royal family you didn’t vote for | Marina Hyde After years of drip-fed revelations, we might as well face it. This is a family elevated by birthright: they’re stuck with him and so are we, says Guardian columnist Marina Hyde

Fact Check: Nigel Farage on Ukraine and Putin Podcast Episode Β· Quiet Riot Β· S1, E9 Bonus Β· 12m

I see Nigel Farage is back to claiming he "predicted" the war between Russia and Ukraine in the EU Parliament, when in fact he spoke AFTER the annexation of Crimea, to defend Russia and claim it was all the EU's fault.

I did a full fact-check, with clips, here:

Sir Keir Starmer.

Our PM.

He's hard working with proven experience of getting things done.

Hated by the hard left as he's not Corbyn.

Hated by the far right as he solve the issues they are exploiting.

Hated by the media just because he's Labour.

All lie about him.

So let's show him some love!

There may not be obvious parallels with Jan 6th, conduct-wise, but the message is identical: laws are to be abused in pursuit of Trump’s foes & ignored in relation to his allies. He is telling his base that they can commit crimes with impunity. Fascism 101.

Yesterday this blog sought to make sense of the decision to drop the Chinese Spying prosecutions on the information then available, and averred that both the positions of the government and the Crown Prosecution Service did not make sense.

Now the government has published three witness statements, the picture now changes. The government’s position now makes sense, and the CPS looks as if it made at least one serious mistake and possibly another.

What the Chinese spying case witness statements reveal

The Crown Prosecution Service appears to have made at least one serious error, while the government's position now makes sense

FarRage wants us to get bored asking who funded his house.

I’m not getting bored I’m getting angrier. Our media are hopeless (not news but worth saying again). FarRage smirks his way through Russian betrayal and dodgy house deals.

He is a Traitor.

The UK is by no means a fiscal outlier internationally.

We are β€˜middle of the pack’ on the scale of the deficit, and UK government borrowing is projected to fall by more than in other large economies.

You’d think Farage believes Brexit is the best thing to happen to Britain. But the Kremlin rπŸ€t’s Freudian slip showed his real preferences - the first country that came to his mind as benefiting from Brexit was Russia.

There is a decency agenda absolutely in tune with majority feeling in the country that would be an open goal for the government if it wasn't also inclined to lurch towards an unpleasant space. Indeed it is one Keir Starmer could have personified if he could escape "Blue Labour" unpleasantness.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

The UK right is now committed to:
1. Abandoning net zero
2. Removing UK citizens’ human rights
3. Tearing up current and future deals with the EU
Yet many on the left believe the priority should not be the right’s defeat at the next general election. The self-indulgence is off the scale.

A "pro-Palestine' march passes me in Bath. Perhaps they're good people, I think to myself. The hippyish Quakers I remember from, say, being a member of Bath CND in the 80s. They're not *necessarily* antisemites, I say. So I check out their X feed. And it's awful.

Regulatory sovereignty was always an exaggerated benefit of Brexit because of the trade implications, and relatively unpopular given the belief that Conservatives and Farage wanted it to mean widespread weakening of protections.

Now we know what patriotism means to Shabana Mahmood – can she harness that to unite rather than divide us? | Gaby Hinsliff The home secretary is wrestling the debate back towards integration and belonging, says Guardian columnist Gaby Hinsliff

didn't know there would be quite so many flags in Liverpool when I wrote this, but a relief to see Starmer's conference speech finally try to reclaim patriotism from the right. Suspect a lot of people badly needed the PM just to say: this isn't what Britain is. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
