In part it’s the reinsurance cycle and we’re in a softening phase there. There’s also a structural softening of financial conditions with interest rates falling.

I seem to be unable to open csvs or parquets using positron directly from file explorer with the “open with” function. Anyone else having this issue #rstats

If I recollect correctly the previous NGFS scenarios didn’t have physical shocks explicitly defined (?). This is definitely a step up in bringing the physical risk component into the mix.

Have you tried glue_sql()? It does something similar but to my eyes is even cleaner

I think it’s because when arranged, shapes that are close to each other get unioned first to form a larger and larger contiguous shape. Instead of a little bit here and a little bit there

Another #rstats gis hack: I’ve been trying to take a 2.5 mil spatial points, buffer them, and then union the buffers into one shape. Turns out if you just order those points by lat, lon you can cut down run time required by st_union() from 6.5 hours to just 5 minutes!! 🏎️🏎️

I haven’t seen ellmer used in a multi agent way but that’s probably a skill issue on my part! I didn’t realise it can call tooling
