Is it a lot? Yup. Is it risky? Yup. But the cap is going up so quickly, $18M over just the next two seasons. The reality is that all player salaries are going to go up dramatically in the next 5 years. Just another reason HuGo were wise to lock their best players early.

Awesome! Sorry, I must have missed it. My wife and kids got to spend a day with him years ago at a KidSport event and have been following him ever since. Very happy for him.

Jack, not sure if you take requests for Heroes (and maybe you've already mentioned him), but I would put forward for your consideration Evan Dunfee, another Tokyo World Champion. This man has the conscience of a saint. Check out his interview with the CBC's Devon Heroux.

Mr. Murray Dryden

I only just now learned about Ken Dryden's father, Murray, who was also Member of the Order of Canada for his philanthropy. Looks like the Dryden's were a special family.

Your rankings are probably right, but honestly being 4th behind three of the all time greats is no bad thing. Those seasons between 2010-11 and 2016-17 were incredible, and utterly squandered by Habs management. What a shame.

I think it was Andy Roddick who said that tennis was the only sport that makes the loser speak in front of the crowd right immediately after losing. That can't be easy.

Today is one of those days when Bluesky fails me. Not enough NHL reporters. My feed is awash in NBA and NFL info, but very little NHL.

I don't mean retiring his number, I meant that he'd be a HOFer today.

He's one of the ultimate 'what ifs'. Look at his playoff record, it's stellar, better than his regular season, but the CH never fielded a really good team around him. What if MB doesn't overpay Price, and builds a better team around him? Then, I think we're having a different conversation.

I didn't see the broadcast, but I wonder if he was there pinch-hitting for Milt Stegall?

Canada has shaped structural science for decades, from early protein models to today’s breakthroughs. 🧬

As IUCr2026 approaches, we celebrate its global impact in crystallography.

This is going to be an interesting UFA season. Teams with cap space and not many legit stars. Marner will get paid this offseason, just not by the Habs (I hope). McDavid may be available in a year, the Leafs won't tie their hands overpaying for Marner. Maybe the Blackhawks?

Someone mentioned to me this series reminded them of Luongo in the 2011 Finals, and I had to agree. Good at home, awful on the road...Game 7 started badly and the Canucks never recovered. Feels really familiar.

I listened to a CBC segment speaking with Albertans, and many of them spoke about wanting a less socially conservative party, so maybe there's hope for them.

I think part of it is the simplicity. We vote on one thing, on a paper ballot, in pencil. No punching holes. No voting for Prez, Gov, Senator, Congressperson, judge, dog-catcher...My 16-year old kid can work in a polling station and not worry about needing armed guards outside...

Unfortunately, we aren't currently well-positioned to take advantage. Everything from housing and student visas, to research infrastructure and future employment opportunities in STEM has been stagnant or going backwards recently. The time tor reinvest was 5 years ago.

We have a unique opportunity right now to take advantage of the bad research climate in the US today. It will take significant investment, but smart people in the US are virtually begging for an opportunity up here. PP and the Conservatives would squander it, which would be tragic.

I think it's one thing to point out where there are unreasonable roadblocks in the development system, but he often doesn't explain why those roadblocks were put in in the first place. Do we want a system where anything goes, or will we just replace development problems with environmental problems?
