A global name isn’t going to come to #nufc with the current spending rules in place. We are essentially blocked from competing with the top 4/5 or even clubs like Spurs. So a cup win and the odd CL qualification is realistically our best hope. That’s not enough to tempt that level of manager.

A name that comes up a lot. I don’t see how he’s any better than Howe though. Won nothing and only 1 point above NUFC.

It’s not putting the club down, it’s just reality. Look at Chelsea and Man Utd, they are finding it difficult to attract the so called elite managers. Neither have the same PSR constraints as us.

10.02.2026 07:19 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So who are people thinking would replace Howe if he was to go? We aren’t getting Pep if that’s what you’re thinking. Or any other so called β€œelite” manager. It will either be a has-been or someone unproven. Personally I’d keep Howe and accept that this season has been a step backwards. #nufc

We got beat the other day, mate. 3-2

09.02.2026 19:44 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think that’s the core lesson from last summer. We learned that qualification for the CL doesn’t = a pick of all the best talent. Like you say, we need to be smarter. Buying rough diamonds and accept that some of those will need to leave for profit.

09.02.2026 10:31 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think there will be 2/3 players trying to force a move in the summer, Tonali and Gordon are definite contenders. The club just has to be much more ruthless about it. Sell and move straight on. Tbh I’d sell Gordon in a heartbeat, his stats are woeful.

Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali high on Manchester United’s shortlist to replace Casemiro Exclusive: Italian midfielder, who wants a guarantee of Champions League football, would command fee in region of Β£100m as agent stirs pot

This is building up nicely. Another summer transfer window ruined no doubt. #nufc

We don’t have that luxury. We’ve spent too much money -

Elanga Β£55m
Wissa Β£55m
Ramsey Β£40m
Woltemade Β£69m

Unless we sell players like Gordon, Tonali and Bruno to fund it.

Where does this leave Howe? He’s a caretaker until PIF decide what they want to do with the club. He’s too comfortable and that breeds complacency. It stifles creativity. Tell me, does he look like the same guy that took over from Bruce - full of fight, drive & ideas? πŸ€”

07.02.2026 20:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That tells me that PIF have decided that #nufc aren’t worth that level of investment. Our CEO even stated that β€œdoing nothing is an option”. πŸ‘€ If PIF were really serious about wanting to compete for the PL year after year then a new stadium isn’t just an option, it’s actually essential.

07.02.2026 20:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

But for me the smoking gun is the lack of a decision on a new stadium. Anyone with half a brain can see that in order to grow revenues and compete with the best we need a new stadium. It’s the one thing PIF can freely invest in….and yet we are still waiting.

07.02.2026 20:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You’ve got the constant churn of boardroom staff which points at owners who are uninterested and difficult to engage with. There’s also that perceived lack of investment too. Yes, PSR plays its part but other clubs are under the same constraints and have found ways to invest.

07.02.2026 20:47 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yup and we are basically back there. This garbage is no better than when we were under Steve Bruce.

07.02.2026 19:42 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Well, that was shit. Howe is out of ideas, squad is flat and totally void of confidence. Players like Tonali already planning their exit. Strikers are all woeful. Slipping closer to the bottom three than the top 5. #nufc

07.02.2026 19:38 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Awful signing. He’s shanked so many shots out of the stadium it’s criminal. Even the couple of goals he scored were basically just ricochets off his shins. Β£55m. Whoever signed off on that needs sacking.

06.02.2026 21:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

What we should have done was accept the situation and worked with LFC to find a sensible solution. One where they get Isak for a reasonable price and we get Ekitike….who in my mind is a better player. We let our ego get the better of us.

06.02.2026 18:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Isak was always going to go. Both clubs were in a stand off and LFC had basically said β€œSell us Isak for Β£85m or we will sign Ekitike instead”…. According to reports we were furious and doubled down on wanting Β£150m for him.

06.02.2026 18:45 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The biggest mistake #nufc made was not using Isak to secure Ekitike. We should have sold Isak to Liverpool on the understanding that they stay away from the Ekitike deal. Instead we went with the idea that we could somehow have both & ended up with neither. A clusterfuck of a summer window.

06.02.2026 18:23 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

100% agree but those kind of players are a dying breed. It’s all driven by the agents now, constantly in their ears. Obviously they stuck by him during the betting ban and he signed a new deal….but that’s only the club protecting his value.

06.02.2026 18:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Why would he want to stay though? He could easily go and play for a number of top European teams. We’ve gone backwards and look like we are going to finish mid table. There’s zero loyalty in football, if you want the best players to stay then you have to perform.

06.02.2026 17:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think there’s a player in Woltemade but the whole team has to be set up to fit his style. Ours isn’t.

β€˜This is not London’ - Simon Jordan tears down David Hopkinson for Newcastle vision Newcastle United owner David Hopkinson doubled down on the club’s bold 2030 vision earlier this week.

Bang on. The fact PIF have kicked the new stadium can down the road is proof to me that they aren’t serious about #nufc Howe is beginning to look like a caretaker manager, a guy who can do no wrong in the eyes of owners who have totally lost interest.

He would. Man U are still a huge draw and it’s a good time to join as Almorim shat the bed. He’s also stuttering at NUFC and might think that it’s a good time to jump ship.

Money always talks. Signs a deal with Chelsea on 3x the wage. Gets sacked in the summer, nice big pay out and then onto the England job. There’s no downside to taking these jobs.

#nufc aren’t signing anyone in Jan guys. We can’t because of the cash spent in the summer, including Β£100m on Elanga and Ramsey. I think they should focus on not fucking up the summer transfer window again.
