One day media will learn to report out what they hear from LEOs before printing it. One day right?

This is also a great example of how to moderate a debate. Tane was great. Much better than other examples we have recently seen.

Mpls for the Many Chair Chelsea McFarren had this to say about Frey’s campaign running on a successful program he’s currently defunding:

β€œOnce again, Jacob Frey is running on a lie. He’s actively campaigning on what has been a successful citywide program that he is simultaneously defunding. If Jacob Frey’s own budget is passed, Stable Homes, Stable Schools, as we know it, won’t exist at this time next year. But Mayor Frey isn’t concerned with the communities that could benefit from this program in the future, he’s only concerned with optics. His priority isn’t making sure that this program is funded, his priority is getting re-elected. Jacob Frey’s entire two terms of β€œleadership” have been lip service: telling our communities what they want to hear, while only prioritizing the interests of his corporate mega donors.”

MINNEAPOLIS β€” Stable Homes, Stable Schools has been a keynote policy for the City of Minneapolis since it was introduced in 2019. Mayor Jacob Frey and Council Members alike have lauded this cross-jurisdictional program that has served children across the city. There’s just one problem: the budget the Mayor released in August is $3.2 million short of funding the program. If Jacob Frey’s budget is passed, Stable Homes, Stable Schools will cease to exist at this time next year. According to Council Member Robin Wonsley’s Ward 2 newsletter:

β€œThe Mayor’s staff shared that their current budget will result in the following projected budget shortfalls for Stable Homes Stable Schools: $3.2 in 2026, $4.3M in 2027, and $4.9M in 2028.”

What a week’s worth of rider text messages reveals about Metro Transit’s problems Serious crime is down on Metro Transit, but riders continue to report β€œquality of life” crime that makes some feel unsafe on light rail.

The Strib got a week's worth of text complaints to Metro Transit -- 74 in total -- & published the 3 worst ones. Is 74 a lot? 10 complaints per day for the 2 light rail lines, which see 40K daily riders, seems pretty good to me actually. (.025% complaint rate.) www.startribune.com/metro-transi...

So Frey managing to both axe Emergency Housing Vouchers and dramatically underfund Stable Homes Stable Schools in his proposed budget.

Ward 2 Updates

Hmm I think that's an incorrect read on the budget. From Friday: The Mayor’s staff shared that [Frey's proposed] budget will result in the following projected budget shortfalls for Stable Homes Stable Schools: $3.2 in 2026, $4.3M in 2027, and $4.9M in 2028."

In light of the recent threat to our campaign HQ and a steady escalation of death threats, we're increasing safety measures to protect Omar Fateh, his family, & our campaign. We need to raise $10,000 more than we'd planned to cover critical security needs. secure.actblue.com/donate/fateh...

"We launched Stable Homes Stable
Schools with a simple belief: that no child should have to worry about where they're sleeping at night to succeed during the day," said Mayor Jacob Frey. "Years later, the results are clear -this program is working.
Families are staying housed, kids are staying in school, and Minneapolis is stronger for it. This is what happens when city, school, and community partners come together and stay committed."

Press release from literally 3 days ago where Frey talks about how important this program is. In his own words: it works!

But not enough to fully fund it apparently. www.minneapolismn.gov/news/2025/oc...

There never will be. Those same people will be tapped in 2026 and 2028 as they are every midterm/presidential. Same group of consultants and advisors have been running most major Dem campaigns my whole life. And what do we have to show for it?

I think we’ve got it. It’s the PAC money and allegiance to the same interests as republicans.

But we don’t have the same megaphone. We have to rely on our messengers alone. While Strib and other large outlets run their red-baiting playbook.

From a friend of mine: someone living in Blaine came to the store she works at and started going on about how β€œdangerous” Minneapolis is. This store is in Minneapolis.

Person then went on to say β€œI should get to vote in Minneapolis even though I live in Blaine cuz the socialists have taken over!β€πŸ™„

so be careful what articles you're reading about local politics, and what you're praising. the election is one month away, and media who made fun of aisha chughtai for demanding respect from them in 2024 are now championing her, because they know it's what you, their audience, wants to see
