The NIH budget will INCREASE by $400 million β€” not slashed by 40%, as Trump proposed β€” according to a proposal by Senate appropriators, says Sen Murray.

"Some have asked if there will even be an NIH by [2029]. The commmittee's resounding message is yesβ€”Congress has your back", she says.

Would love to look at ex vivo macrophage subsets and also how this is regulated in tissues. Let me know if you have any ideas for approaches for the in vivo experiments!!

So far, it looks like all of the macrophages phagocytose (though to varying amounts) but only a subset of those sampled from live cells.

In vitro cultures also indicate that macrophage subsets perform live sampling with different efficiencies.

Yes! So far, I haven't been able to find something that enables us to distinguish between efferocytosis vs. this type of sampling. However, I have done a few in vitro experiments feeding macrophages both live and dead cells (labeled with different colors).

Very excited to read this spot-on feedback. We are actively investigating the molecular mechanism and physiological implications of this process, so we hope to shed some light on these questions soon!

Come find me presenting this project as a poster at #KSAutophagy25 if you would like to chat!

On Juneteenth, and in this era of rising vaccine disinformation,
it is useful to contemplate that three centuries ago, the knowledge of an African slave introduced the concept of immunization to America, launching the first successful public inoculation campaignΒ
