A 9th House Gemini stellium dreams it, a 4th House Capricorn stellium does it, a 10th House Cancer Mars takes the credit, and a 5th House Aquarius North Node keeps it fun, all while a Libra Ascendant battles silently with an Aries Moon. 🌎🌍🌏

My gym has gone up 11% my SIM card 17% and broadband 10% this year. Barely anyone gets a rise that big. So they feel fleeced by 40% tax bracket every time their pay goes up because employers long ago broke the idea they share success with employers

UK government set to make support for asylum seekers β€˜discretionary’ Home secretary expected to change system to deny help to those who can work or who have assets

β€˜Government sources said rules that mean most asylum seekers are not allowed to have jobs will not change.’ It’s absurd that the govt chooses to continue with a rule that puts asylum seekers in a situation of dependency, then attacks then for needing β€˜handouts’ www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

The far right aren’t bothered about the finer points of asylum rules they simply want NO people of colour to be in their field of vision at any time, and Shabana that means you. Trying to capitulate like this achieves NOTHING other than contributing more to the climate of hate.

I'd love to "debate" why their MEPs voted with the far right to allow migrants drown in the Med, but no-one in Fine Gael ever seems to want to talk about that.

What still shocks is the sheer vindictiveness and distortion of the language. Here, asylum seekers are classed implicitly as illegal migrants who've been getting a "golden ticket" as if they were lottery winners, and will now be punished with a 20 year wait for settlement, if not evicted first.

Shabana Mahmood: β€˜Illegal migration is tearing Britain apart’ The home secretary is planning to introduce a 20-year wait for permanent stay to end a β€˜golden ticket’ for asylum seekers

Pretty sure it’s racism which is tearing Britain apart

Here with a friend/colleague. Between his experience with racist English fans growing up and my experience with a man hitting me when England ✨won✨, we might be rooting for other teams but we can bond about rooting against England!

The white paper was my last straw (not that I can vote but you know what I mean), I used to think I’d vote for a β€œgood” labour person, cuz there are folks I do like. But as soon as I saw the phrase β€œincalculable damage”, I was done. The truly good ones would leave, no more excuses or enabling.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

This won’t stop people seeking protection in the UK. It will make it harder for refugees to rebuild their lives, feel secure and contribute to their communities. It will create a load more work for the Home Office, reviewing claims every three years.

Britain Has Never Been Welcoming to Refugees | Novara Media From Russia's war with Ukraine to the second world war, the nostalgic myth of Britain being welcoming to refugees is exactly that; a myth. Daniel Sohege explains.

This idea that the UK is "excessively generous" is a flat out lie. Countries such as France have far higher support for this seeking asylum for example. It's a myth used to try and defend the indefensible. Britain has never been welcoming, it has only got more hostile

Immigrants are so poor and backwards, they're eating (white) people's cats and they're eating their dogs!

Also, immigrants are so rich and elitist that they're stealing all the good Ivy League admissions spots from deserving (white) students in America!

Doesn’t help that my work is in immigration, I can’t escape the HO and the HO have been so horrendous since spring, just nasty stuff every day. And it’s a constant thing of β€œthey could easily do this to me too, when my visa is up for extension next year”.

I’m really starting to realize just how much the anxiety of not knowing has impacted my mental health. Ive gained 9kg since the white paper, it’s not the only reason (work and a personal thing too) but that I think was the catalyst. I was keeping work and the other thing together until that came.

Home Office earmarks sites to house up to 10,000 migrants Shabana Mahmood is planning a major shake-up of the immigration system, looking to Denmark’s tight asylum controls for inspiration

Large accommodation sites are not a viable or humane solution, as we told The Times.

These plans are extremely costly and logistically complex.

They will further isolate people away from communities and fail to address the real issues facing the asylum system.

I have woken up at 430 and all I can think about now is the overwhelming amount of work waiting for me so I should just get up and go, despite not having had enough sleep and the alarm won’t go off for another hour+.

Sigh. Again, may this era ebb. It’s been 11 months and it’s just getting worse 😭
