Ultimately they're going to see political reversals based off the failure of their economic program. The far right since 2024 reminds me of the left in the 1990s: no viable economic program, so they retreat into becoming "cultural critics" unable to offer anything useful to ordinary people

Sounds great. Federal government should launch a massive public housing construction binge. Solves the supply issue, lowers rents, housing overvaluation, etc. Win-win.

Yeah we don't need to "replicate" past solutions, but worth looking at difference in how seriously federal gov't took the housing shortage after WWII vs today. What comparable policies have been even suggested comparable to the GI Bill or Housing Act of 1949?

Interesting how the government was able to kick start massive construction bonanza in the late 40s by boosting demand and backing cheap loans. Wish YIMBYs would look up from zoning deregulation long enough to look at other policies which helped build us out of a shortage...
