Alina Paetz threw 99% for the game today for the Swiss. When your fourth literally *does not miss* you win. It's really that simple.

And USA is going to face Canada, the 2-time defending world champions, after Sweden wins the other semifinal.

After three perfect guards from Thiesse and Peterson, Tabitha's last one over-curled just enough to give Paetz a port for a takeout.

Switzerland wins 7-4. Really tough to beat any team that throws as well as the Swiss did all game long.

USA plays for bronze tomorrow morning at 8:05 ET.

At first I wondered if a back line tap on the rock Tabitha just put on the 4 foot was there, try to push the yellow out and sit 3. But the angles probably didn't quite work

You're still trying to steal if the game is tied

I'd have gone for 3 there as well, instead of the draw for 2 and a tie. Whether you're down 1 or tied, SUI has hammer in the 10th and you're trying to steal.

The in-off was just a really tough shot. Maybe a heavier shot and a little thicker makes the angle work.

Tying does you almost no good at all with the way Switzerland is playing. Whether you're down one or tied, you're still trying to steal for the win.

At least going for 3, you can force SUI to a single and then have hammer in the extra end.

Maybe the first flat-out miss by the Swiss all game on an attempted peel but they still get one in the 8th. USA down 5-3 with hammer heading into the 9th.

Need to find a path to a big end here with Switzerland being nearly impossible to steal against all tournament.

Feels like every shot for Team USA is just a little bit off right now. Not full misses, but missing the rolls or just a bit off on weight. And that's how you get down 4-2 after 4 to a great team like the Swiss.

USA doesn't get the roll out to blank the third end, instead hitting and sticking to score one to tie the game at 2-2.

Not ideal with the hammer going back to SUI for the 4th.

Solid start for Switzerland, forcing USA to one point in the first end then scoring two in the second. USA's takeouts didn't quite roll the way they needed them in the 2nd, leaving an open draw for 2.

It's time for USA vs. Switzerland in women's curling, round two, this time for a trip to the Gold Medal game.

The USA women's team has been to the semis only once before, in 2002, and didn't medal. A win today and they would make history.
