Judge Immergut quotes James Madison from the
Records of the Federal Convention of 1787: β€œA standing
military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The
means of defence [against] foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at
home.”

Trump Judge says the President’s version of the facts in Portland was not tethered to reality, and that the sending of National Guard troops there violated Oregon’s sovereignty and the 10th Amendment citing all kinds of historical sources. A…Trump….Judge. s3.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

So proud of my GSU law students! For the July 2025 bar, GSU Law is proud to be ranked #2 in overall bar passage among Georgia law schools for all applicants, and #1 in bar passage for Foreign Educated Lawyers (first-time takers). πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ

The Constitution as designed by the founders was supposed to prevent the current regime. Its original guardrails did not work. The ones added after the Civil War did not work. The de facto amendments created by the accretion of judicial decisions did not work. The post-Watergate reforms did not work

SC senators consider what could be nation’s most restrictive abortion ban State lawmakers are meeting Wednesday to discuss a proposal that could significantly reshape South Carolina’s abortion law and policies on reproductive health.

β€œthis bill could put people in prison for up to 30 years if they help women access the procedure β€” including providing information about where abortion is legal, according to one attorney β€” or if they undergo an abortion themselves.”

Why Did Cass Sunstein Think Sitting for an Interview with Isaac Chotiner Was a Good Idea? The most famous classic blunder is getting involved in a land war in Asia, but there are other classic blunders, including the only slightly...

Cass Sunstein sat for an interview with Isaac Chotiner of the New Yorker. Unsurprisingly, given Chotiner's track record, it did not go well for Sunstein--and not only because the best he could do to defend his friendship with Henry Kissinger was to say Kissinger wasn't as bad as Stalin. Wait, Can He Actually Do That? Part 21: The Comey Indictment It has been over a month since my last entry in this series , but that is hardly because there has been any shortage of legally dubious act...

Who could have prevented Trump's political prosecution of Comey? Trump; his advisors; & the grand jury. Who can prevent conviction and imprisonment? Judges & jurors. Who's ultimately responsible? Trump, Congressional Republicans & the 40% of Americans who support the authoritarian regime. DetailsπŸ‘‡

I think it's d: Roberts has no interest in having SCOTUS "fulfill its intended role in our constitutional system" since he's ALWAYS had a grander role in mind: they don't decide cases, they decide policy at the highest/broadest possible level. They took it slowly at first, but now at breakneck speed
