Watching daughter playing ultimate frisbee in Denver much more fun than keeping up with the news.

Special Report: How Trump’s crackdown on law firms is undermining legal defenses for the vulnerable β€” Reuters Interviews with over 60 lawyers and 30 nonprofits show legal aid groups now have fewer resources to defend the vulnerable.

β€œDozens of major law firms, wary of political retaliation, have scaled back pro bono work, diversity initiatives and litigation that could place them in conflict with the Trump administration, a Reuters investigation found.”

Roberts leads with hubris and is willing and has often left law far behind, especially in voting cases. scholarlycommons.law.wlu.edu/cgi/viewcont...

If it was not obvious before, their support or even silence in the face of the Roberts’ Court’s hyper-partisanship & lawlessness betrays how bad faith the right’s decades-long attack was on liberal Justices not sticking to the plain text of the Constitution & making up law.

The fall of our Democracy is happening in plain sight.
Also it is Leonard Leo’s and Justice Thomas’/Alito’s vision for America-just saying.

Fed Soc profs arguing the Court is doing business as usual are either intentionally lying or so wrong as to suggest incompetence. From Section 3 disqualification to Immunity to separation of powers to the Shadow Docket it is the Trump Court. You can argue that’s ok I guess but it is aTrump Court.

Early in the new administration the DOJ dismissed cases brought against last minute voter purges. It dismantled the Civil Rights division & is collecting sensitive voter data. Yesterday Texas re-gerrymandered its map setting off a nationwide firestorm. We must restore the VRA! @lwvus.bsky.social

Down Goes Brown Yesterday, Brown University became the third Ivy League institution to sign a settlement agreement with the Trump administration. Its deal ...

Yesterday Brown University bent the knee to Trump in the latest agreement to neuter academia as a site of potential resistance to authoritarianism. On the blog, I describe the differences and, more importantly, the similarities, with the Columbia ransom agreement. πŸ‘‡

Brown's capitulation to the state is as great a threat to academic freedom in America as Columbia's cowardice. Anonymous student course evaluations have been potentially weaponized to punish speech that might anger students in the classroom. A serious chilling effect. www.brown.edu/sites/defaul...

Rights expansions by legislators are usually great. By the Supreme Court not so much. Congress has almost always been to the left of the Court in American history. So more judicial power, less Congress can do.

A reminder the end of the United States began when lawyers like Leonard Leo and Don McGhan and law profs, yes I’m calling them out, Randy Barnett, Steve Calabresi, and other Fed. Soc profs openly preferred Trump to Hillary normalizing him. So many false equivalencies. They traded country for judges.
