A patron asked me “If my books are late will you put me over your knee and spank me?”.
I have been laughing about it, but it just occurred to me that it’s actually horrible and in a world where I wasn’t numbed to the harassment of men, it would not be funny at all.

Sometimes self care is letting the dog tear up a paper bag and calling it enrichment.

I will be here until they turn off the power, or drag me off in handcuffs. I may not have much to offer, but I will keep these doors open for as long as I am physically able.

Teen at the library today asked me to DoorDash her a hamburger and then bullied another kid. Entitled and cruel. This is America.

Sometimes you just tell the obviously drunk guy who comes in asking if you let kids take out LGTB books that you don’t have any… because that’s not a thing… and you don’t want to deal with his bullshit.

I met Emily when she was touring my area and was impressed by her appreciation for the struggles of small rural libraries. Absolutely will sign.

Same! I’ve started making myself read at least one new fiction release a month so patrons don’t call me out. lol

Setting up for our library book sale that is made up of weeded and donated books. We had so many right wing books donated I had to make a neo-fascism section.
I am also fully guilty of putting a book on conspiracy theories in with the religion books.

That’s what I say Out Loud. My inside thoughts are more along the lines of “Fuck around and find out you fascist. I’ll give you homework!”

Revising our book challenge policy and one board member is concerned that we expect a mini book report before we even consider removal of an item. The concern is that we do that so that they give up and don’t bother. Yeah…. So?

I was feeling very dramatic after reading Facebook comments on a neighboring town libraries posts. I went ahead and ordered some new books to clear my head. Library director retail therapy. 😝

My plan is to continue corrupting their children with inclusive secular library programing. I’m playing the long game.

A friend (librarian) is getting death threats because they tried to hold a drag queen story hour. Staff are being harassed. Comments on articles like “line them up and blindfold them. Protect the kids.”
This is the front lines. Where is my body armor? All I have is a flag pin and a name tag.

The look parents give me when I tell them “reading is reading” in response to their personal vendetta against graphic novels…

I always think I’m going to get some program planning done but end up straightening some unused corner of the non-fiction section.

Absolutely. I start wandering the stacks like a zombie at 6:00.
