Yes I’m being a bit paternalistic but I think it OK for society (however defined) to say certain things, however “cool”, are not to be tolerated. Young people can and will figure out something else to do and the cycle will repeat.

Eh, let’s not overthink this. Join a kickball league for community. Play pickup ball. Play D&D. We don’t need to put up with such negative externalities. Bored and restless 20-somethings are not a new phenomenon.

That’s a good point. I’m probably going off vibes of what feels more connected to the rest of the city to me. I’m hopeful for what could be done with the North Loop, HOA bridge, etc making River Market / Columbus Park / Riverfront feel more cohesive.

Great post. I have more hope for the Riverfront than West Bottoms because of higher visibility and funding is more local (Palmer Square vs NYC-based Somera). But still a lot of work to do in Crossroads and DT. Comparison to NoMa and Navy Yard in DC are on point.

The payment system is part of what makes the “full faith and credit of the United States” what it is. The Federal government arbitrarily stiffing counterparties by withholding payments puts the entire world economy at risk.

I spent nearly ten years working for the Treasury at the Bureau of the Fiscal Service. An amazing team doing a very important job. The danger here needs to be understood. This happening at the same time as the debt ceiling being hit is a risk of a disaster of epic proportions.

The US has two options in the next few decades:
1️⃣ Massively scale up condo, townhouse, and small-lot housing production; or
