Fair point. Social media doesn’t cut it for those purposes, but it can make you aware of new people and genuinely interesting perspective, even if it’s the case that they tend to come from ‘your side.’ I’ve frequently encountered writing that articulates things better than I can, and that’s a plus!

I wonder if we tend to gravitate towards circles of approval because the alternative in social media is less likely to be critique and more likely to be confrontation, which is exhausting and unfruitful.

Holy FS, this brief is filled with convoluted garbage. It’s more than a little curious that no biologists, cognitive scientists, or anyone from the sciences in general were not consulted, given experience with the complexities of trying to define an actual basis for real world categorization.
