Rina's Nijigisaki episode is pretty good
It's too bad that everyone who watched it would've known about her gimmick beforehand. It could've been a fun reveal, but even if you somehow didn't know anything about her character going in, the OP totally spoils it

I really like all the ways Nijigisaki diverges from earlier Love Lives, the president not having a contrived opposition to idols is a nice change of pace
But I wish they'd gone with fewer than 9 characters instead of more than 9, LL already felt too crowded too often

Rojica to Rakkasei vol 2 does not disappoint

Finished Tsurezure Biyori, I wish there were more than 3 volumes. Very simple premise done very well

Feels EXTREMELY inspired by Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou, but with more comedy instead of iyashikei, even darker undertones, and even more surreal

Finally finished Hugtto Precure. An uneven show, but the highs are very high, and it's surprisingly thematically cohesive. Raising a baby, exploring what they want to be when they grow up, and fighting bad guys who want to stop time, it all kind of ties together

I like how much this artist likes wood grain

Very detailed and precise line art, nice use of hashing instead of halftone gradients, and not based on some stock 3D model (or at least not conspicuously so)

If I had a nickel for every manga I've seen use this exact plaid pattern, I'd have like 45 cents

Words cannot express how crazy and overwhelming the crossover/anniversary episodes of Hugtto Precure are to someone who's never seen a single episode before this series
This cut (cuts?) is an INSANE feat of storyboarding and animation, and I can name exactly one character in it

I think this is a slight undercount - a lot of series I work on would condense multiple SFX into one line, but also some of these scripts include front or back matter. This also doesn't include short stories.

I was curious about this and whipped up a quick spreadsheet for my series with easy data. Using averages for each series, so each is represented equally.
Though there's a lot of variance, the average "line count" for the manga I've lettered is 1408!

Wow, Arai Satomi is REALLY good as Bishin in Hugtto Precure. I don't think I've ever heard her play a villain before. She's basically synonymous with Kuroko from Railgun to me, plus some (other) comic relief characters here and there

Just read the first volume of Tsurezure Biyori. I am amazed and confused by how much the art changes between like ch 1-2 and 5-6
Backgrounds are absolutely incomparable, and the character art feels noticeably more clear and refined
Also I love the wood grain on the bowl

I guess Toei has a lot of experience at this after all these years, but I'm very impressed by the way they adapt early 2000's character designs for a modern anime. Nagisa and Honoka look just a tiny bit out of place, they struck a great balance between old and new

Lion and Sousei no Aquarion might be the two most underappreciated 00's anison by western anime fans imo, so I was delighted to see AZKi sang both in one stream

My god, Hugtto Precure's henshin scenes do not disappoint. The duo one especially, it's nothing short of a masterpiece

This kind of gradual deteriorating/declining lettering is fairly common in western comics, but I feel like it's pretty rare in manga

Started reading Koi yori Aoku, a manga about two girls who go to different schools, but meet one day on the train home and discover they're both reading the same novel

Hugtto Precure ep 4's sakuga is INCREDIBLE. I've seen clips of the fight scene before, but the whole episode is fantastic.
The detail in this one-off ice skating shot is crazy for a franchise that's been putting out an episode basically every single week for the past 20+ years
