Four graphs, showing the response of PA14 and an isogenic pel mutant, and PAO1 and an isogenic pel psl double mutant, to meropenem and colistin. There is no difference between the response of mutants and WTs.
During her PhD, Jenny found something unexpected: biofilm-deficient P. aeruginosa mutants were just as tolerant to antibiotics as the WT when grown in our cystic fibrosis lung model. But why? #MicroSky 1/n

North Carolina lawmakers have voted to remove all college campus voting sites. Specifically at the largest HBCU in the US NC A&T. They now have to walk 30 minutes to their nearest polling place. Students are protesting this - pls share and support.

Collage of four photos: Top left shows small tubs with differently colored labels to attach to your badge, while the other three photos show big sign boards with "Welcome to the 2026 AAAS Annual Meeting", "Registration hours" and "Quick Guide to Where Things Are".
Lots of signage and some cool labels to decorate our badges with. Not the usual "speaker", "organizer", or "exhibitor" labels, but "More of a Comment than a Question", "Armchair Astronaut", and "Runs on Coffee".

However, Jeremy Berg, former director of the NIHโs National Institute of General Medical Sciences, told Research Professional News that Bhattacharyaโs comments were โquite misleadingโ.
โThe institutes and centres have been nominating members in the way they always have done. However, these nominations are being rejected at the level of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS),โ claimed Berg, who has heard from people connected to or within the NIH.
He added that there were concerns candidates were being vetted based on their alignment or misalignment with the Trump administration, which would be a departure from past practice in which members were selected primarily on expertise, alongside geographic and other diversity considerations required under the Federal Advisory Committee Act.
โThese councils are crucial because of what they do,โ Berg said. โWithout a functioning advisory council, an institute cannot legally issue any grants.โ

Join this webinar to see how modern #teamtomo has shifted from pretty pictures to quantitative, local membrane biology, and how that changes the questions we can ask.

Bridging Cellular and Structural Biology Through Cryo-electron Tomography - ASCB
Cellular cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET) holds the grand promise of integrating cellular architecture with molecular structure. Yet, for many cell biologists, this method can seem technicallyโฆ
Curious about cryo-electron tomography but not sure how it fits into your research? This ASCB webinar with Danielle Grotjahn, Ph.D., breaks down what cryo-ET can do, where it shines, and how it works alongside other imaging methods.
