Good list of *serious* films on the subject, would love to see a post on the B movie post-nuke exploitation films, ala PANIC IN THE YEAR ZERO. Those of us growing up in the 60s were fed a good diet of fear onscreen.

The Coliseum installed a pair of large subwoofers in front of the stage for the Sensurround effects of the meh MIDWAY. Didn’t help much.

Remarkable that 1st-run downtown barn King Theatre is running the subtitled arthouse movie SOLARIS.
The Moore Egyptian was cutting edge on RHPS, weekend midnite screenings with live casts catching on quickly.

DIVA is my pick for best Hitchcock movie not made by Hitchcock. (There’s a list for you.) Gorodish would have been a good character for a few more features.

Missed this first time, excellent list. DIVA in particular. LOCAL HERO, HAROLD & MAUDE were Seattle faves for years. Will need to catch DISH & MAN ON THE TRAIN, which are new to me. Thanks-

Saw a good fraction of Kurosawa's films at ASUW Film Series in spring of 73. Hurrah to SIFF for this fine series.

I've never seen A FINE MADNESS (Orpheum) or A THOUSAND CLOWNS (Uptown), but friends have raved, so. Colonial has THE ROUNDERS + 633 SQUADRON for entertainment.

You want salacious? Barbara Stanwyck has been …Known By Other Men! in ALL I DESIRE (Music Hall). Throw in WHITE WITCH DOCTOR & COW COUNTRY @Coliseum & you have some terrible 50’s fare.

I was especially happy Mr MacManus included Radio Radio on his playlist at the zoo.

Downside is the party leadership/consultants would be timid & over controlling. Better for him and us to be a free agent & his own boss.

GODZILLA with no 'filmed for Americans' footage is great, but those inserts are unbelievably bad.

Aqua Theatre is tempting, but I'll catch THE KING AND I at the 5th in the afternoon, then to the Music Hall for the forgettable double feature, & finish with "studio preview" of SOMEONE UP THERE LIKES ME with young Paul Newman.

GODZILLA CoStarring Raymond Burr is terrible if also somewhat terrifying. Oddly watched first reel last weekend and couldn't watch further. 1/

Was thrilled when Sundance Cinemas booked RAN from Rialto. Then devastated when Uptown SIFF big footed us and took booking. Better venue, bigger screen. Oh well.

KAGEMUSHA beats SANJURO at Box Office I'd bet, better big screen flick too. No idea who holds rights now.

Think only time DO DESKA DEN has played in Seattle was at UW Kurosawa film series at Kane Hall. I was there, loved it.

That's why the bookers get the big bucks! (Jk/, trust me I know).
Looks like Mosfilm still holds the rights to DERZU, but site all in Russian.

When someone says bike riders are smug they're admitting that they're annoyed that you enjoy doing something fun, healthy and sidestepping traffic.
