I did a double feature of WAGES OF FEAR & SORCERER once, it was like seeing two different casts performing Hamlet. Different takes, different strengths, one story well told once.

Spare yourself watching a cut-down presentation of LAWRENCE with a 2nd rate presentation ay the Coliseum, waste of time travel. Up the street is HOW THE WEST WAS WON at the SIFFDowntown in 3 strip Cinerama. Does SIFF own the print Paul Allen struck for the venue? Not a great movie, but the format!

BREAKER MORANT deserves a look at the Varsity.

The Eagles auditorium was a popular rock venue for years, would love to catch that Sousie concert there.

CUTTER’S WAY deserves more love than it’s ever received, the presentation at the Uptown last week was first rate.

No ads for the Seven Gables Theatres? Seems unlikely. 5th Ave also oddly missing from the SRO stack, & yes, still running movies until ‘85. No Neptune ad either.

I’m probably overthinking this, but an argument in favor of Mamdani’s proposed public grocery stores in NYC is the success of the military commissaries. I hope the reason for the DoD proposal isn’t Mamdani Derangement Syndrome (I doubt it—probably just some Trump donor looking to cash in).

WHITE HEAT at Blue Mouse takes center stage on my day, + early mat of the campy FOUNTAINHEAD (Arabian), hoping to catch late Special Hollywood preview (swag??) at Paramount. Likely its THIEVES HIGHWAY, but maybe not.
