I wonder if they were hit traveling north on Delridge where @seattledot.bsky.social chose to remove a bike lane for whatever reason

This used to have a double decker highway to the right. Also, it sure seems like people go downtown. This is a Saturday

A project to mass-produce daylighted intersectionsโ€”designed and implemented by SDOT crewsโ€”across the city would be really nice. Pick from a menu of interventions that vary by location: curb extensions, low (for visibility) planters, tactical paint/post, bike racks, community-sourced art, etc.

I agree. Thatโ€™s why I said a bollard. Currently thereโ€™s no deterrent and a flex post will not deter that truck. We all know enforcement is non-existent. Not sure what the other option is.

I would say the fact that half of them are destroyed would say otherwise.

If you hit a car parked in the bike lane, youโ€™re probably going to the hospital too.

Iโ€™d be happy with a 1.5 ft hard bollard with flex posts on top. Cars and especially delivery vehicles do not care about a flex post

At the end openings. Seattle uses flex posts but there several examples like the first picture that show exactly why I didnโ€™t say flex posts.

A nice solid bollard works great and can even be removable if need be

This is an auto-alignment point used by trolleybuses to switch from ESS (battery) to on-wire (OCS) operations.

The operator drives up to a predetermined alignment marking, hits a button, and both poles automatically extend to contact the wires.

This raises a great question.

โ€œModerateโ€ is conventional for โ€œnot progressive,โ€ but has been weaponized to make conservatives sound modest or mainstream when they are not.

Dow Constantine and Dan Strauss are moderate Dems. Nelson is as about conservative as a Dem can get.

This is my thought on sidewalk bulb outs at intersections. Seems like a small dedicated group could make slow but steady impact with a pretty minimal amount of funding. Rather than big pushes every couple years or waiting a decade for the next repaving

I'd love to see the Left channel its passion for fare-free transit toward avoiding catastrophic service collapse in Philly, Pittsburgh, Providence, Kansas City, etc.

โ€œWhile Mayor, I was often asked โ€˜how have you been able to afford bike-lanes in #Copenhagen?โ€™ Iโ€™d reply, โ€˜how have you been able to NOT afford it? 25 years ago we were a few days away from going bankrupt. Weโ€™ve continued our historic investments in needed affordable housing, including We are working every day to create and preserve homes that will serve generations of Seattle residents. Weโ€™ve continued to invest in youth and families by expanding mental health services for young people and launching the and proposal to renew the Families, Education, Preschool, and Promise (FEPP) Levy, which would double access to quality, affordable childcare. Supporting young people and families is one of the most important investments we can make in Seattleโ€™s future.

I like how Mayor Harrell wanted to provide examples of his work on affordable housing in his latest newsletter but just sort of gave up.

It's funny to think that my preference for urban living in areas with dense, mixed-used, walkable neighborhoods, multi-family housing, small businesses, and diversity probably stems from Sesame Street. Like an early education in Jane Jacob's urbanist theories.

Definitely supposed to be mounted at pavement level, not up on a curb. And probably should be a little closer to the edge of the bike lane too

There's a hole in the sky where a tree could stand. Seafair won't let Seattle parks plant them.

Iโ€™ve never actually been to the Seafair event in Genesee Park. Iโ€™d always felt a bit of fomo, but honestlyโ€ฆpretty whack.

Also the Blue Angels are more of an hour or so novelty where I live downtown but for anyone living anywhere near the park, it must be hell
