See the trick is that I bought extra potting soil, so I’ll probably have to back to get more plants for the soil and then again to get more soil for the plants….forever

Plants I bought: two ferns, two lavender, a hosta, and 6 assorted sedums and succulents. They are sitting on my cement balcony, inside a wooden planter, but still in their plastic tubs.

Truly, what I want is a canvas fabric bedspread like the LL Bean dog couch. That’s the most indestructible thing I’ve found so far, for digging at least.

If I had three wishes, one of them would be to modernize the Bureau of Land Managements claim management procedures to bring them into present day from the 1800s.

In BC, you can stake online. In California, you have to go put 5 posts in the ground with a bottle and a piece of paper.

And if someone else goes out and stakes the same land, from a different angle, the same week? It’s a fucking nightmare.

The entire system of claim staking in the USA is archaic and asinine and it drives me absolutely bonkers. They’ve already gridded the entire country using PLSS, why not just only allow people to stake on pre-selected grids? It’s so much easier for everyone.

When claim locations are described as N 01d34’45” W 5693.6 ft from the SW corner of section 12 of X Township and Y Range, I want to put surveyors in the sea.

It’s a claim from 2022. Use fricken GPS coordinates for the monument and corners. We don’t need to measure things in penguins anymore.

They’re totally good! I like being able to add my own spices (and salt!) and you can’t beat the value of canned tomatoes.

As Canadian news cited them, the US Tsunami Warning Centers are also sharing information with our emergency systems.

We are intertwined and the cuts to the American programs (like the National Weather Service and NOAA) will harm us too.
