05.11.2025 06:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I promise, my plan is to get the rest of LUU up - it is *written* - just not edited / proof read.
But in the meantime, if I get this finished I'll share it probably as is.
So while my wife's doing her course I've been writing. I've got 4 WIPs, one of which I'd not touched for a while.
Well, it's the closet to done, and in celebration of the fact that NaNoWriMo is how I started LUU, I've decided to work on this story and see if I can't get it finished.
So my wife is doing a course again... Which means editing's on hold. Sorry y'all.
07.10.2025 03:55 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My editor got back to me with Chapter 27 tonight - and so...here's Chapter 27: Disappointment Reigns.

And in case you didn't see it, I was (& am still) reading @fakeminsk.bsky.social 's Constant In All Other things and decided to do a little tiny sort-of fanfic. It's kinda in universe.
That's what happens when I'm hanging around waiting for flights, apparently.

She's *slightly* less busy now and the book is back on her pile of TO DOs so... hopefully I'll get another chapter out in a not-forever.
09.08.2025 05:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Just fyi folks, I haven't stopped (or ain't dead, or abducted by ICE, which y'know non-zero possibility these days). My wife's just been super busy and so hasn't had a chance to proof for me.
I also have been super busy both with writing projects, but also with a huge lift of a non-writing thing.
I assumed I'd mostly write thrillers because that's historically what I've read the most. And it's where I started. But since then I've started a sci-fi project, a dystopian future project, and a kinda slice of life random thing. So, really it's whatever takes my fancy.
09.08.2025 05:11 β π 2 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Him to bring into this world for a promise he had never agreed to--they all scrabble round my head, claws out, slicing and tearing wounds into me. And in the brief moments when I slipped under the cover kf sleep, there, nightmarish reminders of my mother's death kept me from rest. And the image of her, breathing the smoke and slowly dying amidst the inferno of our once neat home? The
Oh hey Anesha. How's that first draft of that fun story you were talking about going?
Oh... Yeah. Fun. Yeah. It's, um, going fine...
I need two of me: One of me to have great ideas in the shower at 1000 at night, and the other of me, who's slept all day, to actually write them.
As opposed to the current situation where I have ideas, and either stay up far too late, or write notes that get forgotten.
Obviously I'd like to do more, but my brain isn't really up to working out plot stuff, it's more just doing some filling in and fixing up.
23.04.2025 22:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have a stupid cold which is annoying the pants of me, but I've thrown 600+ words into my WIP today, and now it's nap time.
23.04.2025 22:41 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Folks, Victoria Scott is awesome and you should buy her book.
Technically books, but one's out of print.
I really should do another round of queries while I'm waiting for my wife to get better enough to start proofing again.
22.04.2025 01:08 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Okay, I'm going to take this opportunity to discuss something that *really* bothers me about this general epistemic anxiety in trans spaces.
Namely, this unstated idea that the hypervisibility of trans women is something that confers on us a responsibility to highlight transmasc issues more.
fakeminskβs Who Made the Lamb is like if someone decided to tackle the old bad-boy-to-good-girl thing but make it, like, good

Short excerpt from my WIP first draft sent without naming it as mine to a friend during a conversation just with the note "'s fiction 'cept when it's not." She responded "Damn." To which I replied: "I'm taking that as a compliment for my first draft, btw. I might put that on the cover ;)" She then replied: "OH SHIT THAT U" "Damn. Okay."
I have a lot of...imposter syndrome around writing. I worry that it's not good, that I'm not a real writer because [insert insecure excuse about my route to writing], that what I write doesn't have the resonance or impact of other (in my head) better writers.
So my friend's response was reassuring.
I asked one of my favorite authors if I could borrow a fictional town if hers that happened to be in roughly the right place for what I wanted to happen. I used it to drop a couple of scenes in, partly as a thank you (she changed my life for the better), and partly because it made me smile to do so.
15.04.2025 05:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Doing a little bit of evening writing. I should be showering... well, actually I should be in bed. Neither of those things is apparently happening just yet.
15.04.2025 04:46 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If youβre not throwing in the tiniest little references to your friends and authors you wish you were as good as what are you even doing?
14.04.2025 23:48 β π 3 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Got some nice comments on the last few chapters of LUU which is a boost after a good but tiring day at work.
My editor-wife is currently sick though, so no new chapters for a bit.
"If you liked this book about the gender politics of romance fiction, you might like:
- Transfeminist screaming
- Biting commentary on the state of trans healthcare
- Lesbian romance
- Unhinged lesbian body horror and sex (and overlaps thereof)
- More transfeminist screaming (now with race!)"
This thought brought to you by the fact I just went into my WIP and ripped a section out and moved it later by a couple of chapters, which then meant shuffling a bunch of other pieces so they, in turn, happen later.
13.04.2025 05:08 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As someone who writes in a way that's definitely not appropriate to serializing (until my story is done and edited), it's impressive to me how many of my writer friends do that. That they're able to produce coherent well structures stories without a huge amount of shuffling is wild to me.
13.04.2025 05:06 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A friend of mine has kindly agreed to look at it again (since it caught trauma) & see if it's absolutely terrible or whether it's worth continuing.
Problem being I'm very bad at telling whether what I write is any good - basically I have "I hate this" and "eh, I don't hate this" as my two states.
I'd been kinda putting off fixing that chapter (for quite high values of kinda), but it turned out to be way easier to fix than I thought it would be. So yay.
09.04.2025 05:22 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0About 700 words on my WIP and fixed some continuity stuff from a significant change in the way the specific weirdness of my main character's uh, power, I suppose, works.
09.04.2025 05:17 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0I would, uh, check your medications now to see if it's made in the US and maybe stock up on the ones that are not.
