Joe Abercrombie's The Heroes is the best book I've read in a long while. Sheer mastery of pacing and dialogue, and the most compelling depiction of a fictional battle I've ever seen put to paper.

Even if it only gets one extra person to notice and go "Oh that's by [insert creator they like], neat, didn't know they were on that book I'll pick it up" then that'd be enough. There's no downside (since nobody reasonable is saying it should be so enormous it gets in the way of cover art).
