Will blended family physician payment models revive primary care in Canada? Family physicians provide care at most medical visits in Canada.[1][1] However, the rates of burnout among family physicians (FPs) are high[2][2]-[4][3] and recent surveys suggest as many as 6.5 milli...

We need to talk about the (wishful?) thinking driving Cdn health policy:

That changing how & how much we pay MDs will fix the primary care crisis.

New β€œblended” pymt models, 1st seen in BC, are making this claim.

Braid: Sell off the hospitals? The UCP budget makes it possible Danielle Smith's UCP government is taking ownership of all AHS buildings and land β€” and making it possible for the UCP to sell them.

A tactic likely to raise revenues for #ableg govt systematically undermining its own fiscal capacity

1-Charge AHS inflated rates to lease its own hospitals back?
2-Deficits ensue, UCP says AHS can’t manage its budget
3-Privatize & sell off hospitals

Well, that was a complete clown show featuring Kevin O'Leary, the Tar Sands MAGA Man, Both Sides-ing Hanomansing, and a couple rational Canadians who mentioned international law

Americans listening are probably like, wow, it really won't take much to invade that country

It's a grift!

The public is being swindled by the Alberta government and private health care investors

The news out of Alberta just keeps getting worse

For-profits paid upwards of 2x as much for the same procedures performed in Alberta's public hospitals

Public inquiry now.

I’ve been researching this topic for a decade

We’ve had Canadian and international evidence that for-profit delivery is MORE COSTLY

So we can confirm this (again) in Alberta

For-profit costs more: investors must profit from our tax dollars

Pathetic falling in line from a medical professional who clearly knew that the person he was interviewing for a critically important job was egregiously unqualified.

This Senator bears responsibility for RFK Jr.'s impact on public health.

The Globe editorial board might be interested to know that Quebec has among some of the longest public waits for surgeries in the country β€” precisely the result of allowing dual practice where doctors spend their time doing private-pay for the wealthier

This won’t make the corporate chains operating on the margins of Medicare very happy. And that’s a good thing.

Thank you Minister Holland

This is big (great!) news and such a long time coming. We will probably see some big restructuring among shareholder-owned virtual care companies since presumably they won’t be able to charge patients privately for services their staff NPs provide.

A B.C. city put a family doctor on the payroll to address a shortage. Now, many physicians want in Colwood’s mayor says the city is sorting through more than 100 submissions from doctors in Canada, the U.S. and Britain who are interested in the new clinic operating under a municipal funding model

For decades, medical associations have argued that doctors don't want salaried payment

Turns out it's as popular as the research suggests

We are an evidence-based, physician-led organization that works to strengthen and preserve our publicly-funded health care system. We advocate for measures like pharmacare, robust primary care & public solutions that work, while outlining the pitfalls of privatization.
