A pop-up statue showing US President Donald Trump holding hands with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has appeared near the US Capitol on Tuesday.

The anonymous installation, titled “Best Friends Forever”, comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Trump’s alleged ties to Epstein.

Nah, this is wrong. The constitution was written to to diminish the rights of the people. The bill of rights gave some protections I guess, but the constitution gave all the power to the elite, who used that power to codify their wealth.

Who controls them? What do they teach? Who benefits? These aren’t just educational questions. They’re existential questions. And every few decades, the country arrives at another version of this same debate, repackaged with new rhetoric but waged with the same ferocity.

From the earliest common schools championed by Horace Mann to the Progressive Era battles over curriculum, from the desegregation fights of the 1950s to the rise of standardized testing, schools have always been the frontline of America’s political wars.

Public education in America was never just about reading, writing, and arithmetic. It was about power.
