A weathered wooden garden table with a mug on it. The mug is decorated with cranes. Red flowers and a plum tree in the background.
On 18th June, I broke my right foot and sprained my ankle. It's still swollen, and I find the hideous surgical sandal highly offensive to my (admittedly waning) sense of style. Arting has finished until October and I can't drive until I'm mended. Currently staring into the void. It's unbothered.

I've been painting a friend's beloved and much missed Rottweiler boy for the last 5 Friday mornings, but it was a surprise until it was finished and shown it to her. Here's Bear. He was a darling.

Photo of poem in exhibition:
Tell Good People Good Things by Salena Godden
Tell each other you love each other.
Say love. Show your love. Speak it.
Do not wait to talk to a flower in the hope the dead will hear the love you could've said before.
Do not wait to talk to headstones and weep at faded photographs.
You are alive now. So love now.
Tell your good people all the good things. Tell each other you love each other.
Do not wait to softly weep to flickering candles or cry your love to a flower too late.
Say love. Show your love. Share it.

Two pictures of sunlight coming through trees and a canopy of leaves, with bluebells at the bottom. Left hand picture is an impressionistic painting, right hand picture is the source photograph.
Today's Arting. Bluebells at Lanhydrock. Oils. Impressionistic techniques. Much mess made. Much fun had. My mess is on the left.

Yesterday's Friday Arting resulted in this. I'm less than enamoured at the moment, but I'll look at it again once it's dry.

Thank you! I was pleased with it when I brought it home, but now I'm finding faults. Might have to go and buy some paint... Spouse is very proud of it and keeps showing it to colleagues via his phone. I didn't realise he'd even taken a photo of it!

An oil painting on an easel of a grey, hairy dog's face, with the source photograph on an easel to the right and brushes, paints and tissue scattered around because the artist is a stranger to the concept of tidiness.
I think I'm finished with Alfred's pawtrait. It's been a joy to stare at him for a couple of hours on the last five Fridays. I miss him more than I can say. What will I paint next term? π€π

Week 3 of Alfred's pawtrait. He's appearing, I think. I'm really enjoying this oil painting lark.

I think it was just a particularly mardy piece of lino! I have to say that I like the precision you can get when cutting it (when it's warm) better than vinyl but that piece didn't play nicely.

Today's printing class didn't go too well. The lino and I did not get on. The block warped and the surface of it was just awful, so I couldn't get any decent prints at all. So I gave up and will try again with a new piece of vinyl.

A Janome Memory Craft 550E embroidery machine on a green cutting mat with a clothing rail in the background.
An embroidery hoop with an embroidered design of a red, full-skirted sun dress on a tailor's mannequin.
Finally took the embroidery machine out of its box! Apart from the fact it stitched the design out of alignment (despite me drawing the centre lines and lining it up precisely, it's tilted), I'm quite pleased.
Definitely need a bigger studio!

I put all the stuff from my "Drawing and Painting for Health and Wellbeing" course into a display folder. All of it. Even the stuff that's - in my opinion - a bit iffy. Because it's all part of my journey and I'm proud of myself for taking it.
Phew. I've said it. Now I can go and hide for a bit.
