A benefit of following you is that you'll post these completely reasonable, anodyne, pragmatic takes, and half your replies are from extremely rude and frothing lunatics, and it gives me a great list of people to block.

No, do not ask people to dumb down their writing because some people have poor reading comprehension. Shame on you.

As a matter of practicality, intelligent people do not believe in objective morality. Full stop.

I definitely was more pessimistic 15 years ago in my mid-20s. Then I went back to school, got a career I never would have expected, and own a home. Granted, I now work in tech, which is maybe one of the few career paths that could have worked this well for me, and maybe no longer can for most people

As an outside observer, yes you are definitely the defensive one. Take a breath, there's nothing to argue here.

"Fascism never let itself be voted out!" - the predictable replies to this

Great, then they'll admit that Reagan/Bush/etc *weren't* actually fascist. Or admit they're wrong now. They can't have it both ways. The leftist "sky is falling"/"boy who cried wolf" act is why nobody takes them seriously.

There are plenty of things you wouldn't say to a 12-year-old that are nevertheless true and necessary.

And shoutout to the always fantastic Philip Seymour Hoffman for elevating the otherwise pretty standard MI:III with one of the greatest villain performances of all time.

The MI franchise, especially the first few, are a great showcase for how radically different directors (DePalma, Woo, Abrams, Bird) can influence the same basic material. Once they settled in on McQuarrie as director, they're all entertaininly efficient, but blend together.

No. Most Republican politicians would be saying the same thing the Democrats are. If you're just talking about regular folks, well, take a look around this site. There is no difference.

Oh, you're from Canada. Don't worry, everything I said is still true if you swap in Canada for the US. Have a great day!

In neither the actual definition, nor the made-up definition in your head, is the US a "third world" country. Also look up what "median" means while you're at it.

This ad is working on me today. They definitely got their money's worth, still making sales on it 41 years later.

Great points about Mookie as compared to Devers. That's now reason #281 I am mad at the Red Sox for trading him.

Russell Martin but not Sabathia is certainly a choice. Any particular reason for leaving him out? You only picked 8 so it's not like you had to bump anyone.

Curmudgeonly complaint: Stop narrating your Youtube videos in slowly enunciated robot speak. It doesn't make you sound "professional" and it's not pleasant to listen to. Just sound like a normal human being, please. Looking at you, RealLifeLore and MindYourDecisions, to name two.

Which millions of people do. And in many of their minds, murdering an abortion doctor (because he is, from their perspective, a mass murderer), is justified because they're using the same logic as people here who thinking killing the CEO was justified.

08.12.2024 21:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The replies here are from philosophical infants who think he's comparing the insurance CEO to abortion providers. That's not what he's doing. He's saying that we, as a society, should resolve disagreements among people with fundamental moral disagreements without resorting to violence and murder.

08.12.2024 20:34 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And everyone here arguing that this is a false equivalence is missing the point. It's not about whether abortion is better or worse than killing a health insurance CEO. It's about how we, as a society, handle fundamental disagreements about morality.

08.12.2024 20:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

And if your justification for violence is "they started it first!", then you've already failed. You do the right thing because of the type of person you want to be, not because of what anyone else does. You have to live with yourself at the end of the day.

08.12.2024 20:08 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Hey dimwads, the millions of people who disagree with you believe just as strongly as you do that they are morally in the right. You live in the same country and walk the same streets as them. This is about dealing with those disagreements as a society without resorting to violence.

08.12.2024 20:05 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

All the people replying to this by explaining why the two situations are totally different because abortion *isn't* murder, while the CEO is *totally* a murderer and deserved it are unintentionally proving your point.

Then you're willing to be responsible for others' deaths. If you pick red, other people die, definitely. (Don't argue this point or you'll demonstrate your stupidity.) If you pick blue, you're voting for everyone to live.

That you think it is a matter of intelligence or logic tells me everything.

30.11.2024 06:55 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

For the people asking "why would anyone pick blue?"

You pick blue because you know not everyone else is going to pick red, and you care about saving maximum human lives. If you pick red, you WILL be responsible for others' deaths, whether you like it or not.

If they are that talented, then they should put in max effort and create the best art they can actually make instead of compromising their skill for views. Any art you make blindfolded would automatically be far better if you did it without being blindfolded.

27.11.2024 01:31 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Curmudgeonly complaint: I dislike those videos of an artist creating a piece in a way that is intentionally difficult, like doing it blindfolded or with their feet. The result is impressive, but the process is so gimmicky.
