Yeah, but thatโ€™s a lot of fish cakes.

(Kidding, good to see those magnificent and delicious fish rebound)!

This is terrible. A rapid hitting of US science seed stock. Talented students should not give up on science, we certainly need their skills more than ever. But maybe look at doing PhDs in other countries.

A new paper published in @jcb.org by postdoc Jorge Diaz from the Mayor lab at UCL shows that during collective migration, epithelial-like clusters generate traction force mainly through cryptic protrusions at the centre, while mesenchymal clusters do so at their periphery:

Save the date for the annual "Neural Circuits and Behaviour" satellite conference at the Canadian Association for Neuroscience annual meeting, cohosted by @franklandlab.bsky.social and myself on May 18, 2026. We have a great speaker lineup and will be selecting 4 trainees talks from our registrants!

A tragic experience of excessive pressure in academia, one that I suspect occurs too often. Snuffs out brilliant scientists. Itโ€™s important to publish work of graduate students and postdocs, but the focus on unreasonable expectations of aiming for high profile journals is unhealthy.

Beautiful. Hope it inspires folks to admire the ornate intricacies of our cells, and illuminate the importance that science should still in our lives.

A stunning report. The choice is stark: We will either cooperate to help each other out or succumb to our worst impulses in a zero-sum scenario for dwindling resources. And lab grown meat is an interesting idea but would likely be a luxury for the ultra wealthy.

Itโ€™s out! ๐ŸŸ We compared three regeneration superstarsโ€”axolotl, zebrafish, and Polypterusโ€”to ask how animals regrow limbs and fins. We find shared core processes, and other programs fine-tuned by evolution in surprising, lineage-specific ways. tinyurl.com/mpftkn7y

Ha, good question. Youโ€™d to learn chimp and ask them after a meal of ๐Ÿ„.

It may reflect the existence of neurons in our brains responsible for scaling perception, which express a receptor thatโ€™s tickled by a compound(s) from that shroom.

Mushrooms are great at making neuroactive chemicals

So, we must tave โ€œtiny peopleโ€ neuronce, just like place cells, somewhere in our brains that are tickled by a psychoactive compound(s) in those ๐Ÿ„.

If that is true next question is why would our brains have such cells?
