Save the date for the annual "Neural Circuits and Behaviour" satellite conference at the Canadian Association for Neuroscience annual meeting, cohosted by @franklandlab.bsky.social and myself on May 18, 2026. 26.01.2026 18:15 โ ๐ 22 ๐ 11 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0A tragic experience of excessive pressure in academia, one that I suspect occurs too often. Snuffs out brilliant scientists. Itโs important to publish work of graduate students and postdocs, but the focus on unreasonable expectations of aiming for high profile journals is unhealthy.

A stunning report. The choice is stark: We will either cooperate to help each other out or succumb to our worst impulses in a zero-sum scenario for dwindling resources. And lab grown meat is an interesting idea but would likely be a luxury for the ultra wealthy.

It may reflect the existence of neurons in our brains responsible for scaling perception, which express a receptor thatโs tickled by a compound(s) from that shroom.
