Everything I've seen shouts that he's a eugenicist. Maybe he doesn't think of himself that way, but it's 100% how he thinks.

Basically RFK Jr is blowing a dog whistle in the key of anti-semitism. (Autism = bad, in his eschatology: also circumcision = Jewish cultural practice = bad. It's much more obvious outside the US eg. here in Europe, where circumcision is mainly practiced by muslims and jews, or for phimosis.)

Doing that changed me, even though I already knew stuff intellectually. The biggest thing was that a majority of women close to me disclosed being survivors. Family, friends, acquaintances sometimes. I believe women. (And men!)

Anyway, certain people are, um, weird about Allen. It's a "type".

I read threads like that one each time this comes up and I feel very sure that almost a third of the replies don't understand the error themselves.

A lot of Americans politics feels like a drunk husband screaming in rage at a besieged concessions clerk while his loud, entitled spouse demands to speak to the Manager of the Super Bowl.

...and her immediate response was, "but, Keith, everything is NOT a story", which is obviously true but not something I'd considered, shall we say, existentially.

And of course she was right. I think it's beautiful, in a way, how we humans come up with *reasons* for everything. But it's misleading.

I am actually mindful of being careful to avoid teleological language when discussing science, but it's very difficult.

Often, I recall how, when my then-SO (who incidentally was a doctoral candidate in astrophysics at the time) responded to my observation that, to me, everything is a story...

But, also, in my opinion, teleological reasoning is inherent and unavoidable in human cognition because while telos doesn't really exist in nature, it very much is key to a theory of mind and thus social reasoning. So it haunts our thinking. 🧵
