The GF9 Aliens game has a great feel of the film, and the minis are great. I wish I still had my copy of the Leading Edge game, I really enjoyed playing that but we do stupid things when we're young...

Working on some rules for a game next week that mashes together Aeroneff and Full Thrust 2nd ed. It should work well as Aeroneff was loosely based on Full Thrust.

It's a great system both for players and the gm. There's some great 3rd party material available for it as well.

Started our Dragonbane campaign this evening. Highlight of the session was when the wise old Wolfkin mage cast a lightening spell at three orc warriors, miscast it and hit himself reducing his hit points to zero! Once healed by the cleric we suggested he should change his name to Wil E Coyote 😂

Also worth remembering that the tavern is also like a hotel so it's where you'd head to if you wanted a bed for the night if you're not a local and would you risk that bed just for a punch up?

I've always loved the book since I was a kid, read it so many times, but I've yet to see a good film/tv adaption of it. When I saw this I watched the trailer and thought nope!

The easiest way is that they've all had something strange happen in their past. Easy to add with Code, just a simple line to describe it. For example "Woke to the sound of crashing bins, but when I looked it was no fox, it was a man in rags. But those glowing eyes when he looked up at me..."

Still remember the first time I heard Eruption and having to pick my jaw up from the floor 😄

More discoveries of lost goodies! For some reason the Battletech box has a Citytech map and counters and double the amount of mech standees and it seems I never got around to playing Battleforce as it's still unpunched!

So I put the option to the group to run an intro with pregens but they all turned it down and we spent the session creating the characters and chatting about the rules.

This brings forth the next thing, time. We meet on a Tuesday evening from 7 until around 9- 9.30 and being fairly old we also have a good general chat about everything and anything within that time frame as well...

A lot depends on the system. I like to run fairly simple systems that are easy to explain and in a genre the players have an interest in. Pregens are great for one shots but I find everyone having a chat about different types of characters, the world and the system at a session zero really works.

If it's the start of a campaign, I think the session zero is better where everyone chats about what they want to be and how the system works. We'll be doing that this evening for Dragonbane, I've never run it before, and it's new to the players.

I just love rules that encourage roleplaying rather than ruleplaying 🙂
