The BCA keeps saying Victoria is the worst place to invest… and yet business investment keeps growing faster there than just about anywhere else…

i think if you want to have those disgusting LED headlights on your car, you should have to do a test where they blast you point blank with your own headlights and then you have 15 seconds to successfully complete some sort of vision-based task, and if you can't do it they push your car off a cliff

I really hate it when scientists keep saying that β€œwe need to rebuild trust in science,” because it implies that scientists are to blame for the mistrust rather than the millions of dollars of dark money that have funded political attacks on science in order to advance a far right agenda.

A reminder: The Attorney General of the United States should be the people's lawyer, not the president's personal attorney. The Department of Justice should act to protect the public, not just the occupant of the Oval Office and his political allies.

CSIRO to cut up to 350 research jobs in major overhaul After 440 positions were slashed last year, the CSIRO has announced more staff cuts across the country in a bid to remain financially viable.

β€œCSIRO has announced it will slash up to 350 jobs as the national science agency grapples with long-term financial challenges … with current funding failing to keep pace with the rising costs of running a modern science agency.”

Not β€œchallenges”. They’re choices. 😑

The 1st thing I want to hear from the new Liberal leader in Victoria is a core promise to boost country & suburban funding for maternity services & guarantee ongoing access to contraception & terminations for girls & women, despite the infiltration of Christian extremist-activists in her ranks.

Calling Foul: Breaking Down WNBA Pay and Why It Matters Breaking Down WNBA Pay for Women Athletes and Why It Matters: a case study in systemic undervaluing of women’s work

For @msmagazine.com, I wrote about the WNBA and the issue of pay equity. By the time the WNBA was only two seasons in (1999-2000) the average NBA salary was 58 times higher than the average WNBA salary. Twenty-six years later, the gap has jumped to 116 times higher.

Removing asylum support. Seizing belongings. Deporting entire families, including children.

Labour are not just paving the path to a Reform government. Reform may as well already be in power.

This government has no moral compass β€” and it should be ashamed of its inhumanity.

Do ministers ever think about the message their rhetoric on "handouts" and "golden tickets" for migrants sends about whether this is a government for people like us?

Gov. Kathy Hochul once blocked two gas power plants and championed New York’s trailblazing effort to combat climate change.

But as she prepares for what’s expected to be a tough reelection battle next year, Hochul (D) has steered a monumental pivot on energy policy.

On Friday, Hochul approved a new gas pipeline championed by President Donald Trump and cut a deal that will keep a gas-fueled cryptocurrency miner running for five more years. The two decisions have sparked outrage from the progressive environmental wing of her party β€” with three climate-focused groups pointedly endorsing her primary opponent this week.

Something centre-right journalists absolutely love is the "enrages environmentalists" framing

It presents climate / enviro folks as irrational, salivating and constantly infuriated idiots, whereas 'centrist' pro-fossil politicians are Very Serious, level-headed Adults In The Room
