Slavery in America was not that long ago. My great grandfather was a slave. I have his numerous documents, letters, eyeglasses. He existed & survived. They don’t want future generations to know the horrors.

In today’s atmosphere, it’s obvious why a book warning of totalitarian censorship would be in the American Library Association’s list of most commonly challenged books

@drewmagary.bsky.social I want to thank you for coining the phrase "Oops, All Fascism!" on the The Distraction podcast. I've been using it frequently. Unfortunately. But, there ya go.

A lot of people baffled why they did this and I suspect the actual mechanism is that the Loss Prevention Consultants they hired are ex-cop shitheads who watch Fox News all day and thought BLM and anfifa were burning down cities to help the cartel white slavery rings and reasoned out from there

A lot of folks are giving up in advance. Capitulating before a single skirmish.

Well, not this old warrior. I’ve seen much worse from the U.S. government in my day. I’m concerned for our country, but not a bit scared of these miscreants. I’m ready to do my part.

Who’s with me?

β€œWe don’t need a federal ban when we have Comstock on the books,” said Jonathan F. Mitchell, the legal force behind a 2021 Texas law that found a way to effectively ban abortion in the state before Roe v. Wade was overturned. β€œThere’s a smorgasbord of options.”

Mr. Mitchell, who represented Mr. Trump in arguments before the Supreme Court over whether the former president could appear on the ballot in Colorado, indicated that anti-abortion strategists had purposefully been quiet about their more advanced plans, given the political liability the issue has become for Republicans.

One of Trump's top lawyers has already said the plan is to stay quiet on abortion through the campaignβ€”then use the Comstock Act to impose a nationwide abortion ban in 2025. Not only a ban on medication abortion, but ALL abortions, in all 50 states. www.nytimes.com/2024/02/17/u...
