In a nutshell, the Dem lodestar should be: "ICE is bad, and immigration is good"

People want a party to fully agree with every single value they hold.
When is nearly impossible to find another human who does.

We need to just accept that the parties are coalitions and not religions.

And pick which side gives better outcomes.

They have never, ever, EVER in their history been about common sense.
Ever.
They are about personal power.
They will only "to along" if they know their voters demand it.

And with their strict media controls, they generally know what their voters are programmed to demand.

It really pays to remind ourselves frequently that this whole immigration "crisis" is made up out of whole cloth. There was no emergency,danger or problem, only a demagogue stirring up racist grievances for political advantage.

If there comes a day when police put their bodies between the feds with guns and their targets, I will praise the police for doing so. I don’t expect to see that day. It might even be a dangerous escalation. But until that day comes … I assume they are helping the feds.

I'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.
