In happier news, I guess we were really good this year and got a case of Passaggio wine delivered as an early Christmas gift. This 2018 Grenache is so so good. If you are in NorCal, go find some. Made a hearty bean soup (bless the lowly ham hock) and crusty bread to go with.

Trying to get back to some of my weekly household rituals to ground myself. Putting bread together to bake tomorrow, soaking beans for soup Tuesday and finishing up Monday laundry. Ticking the boxes helps a bit.

Mine was meh. I just slept a lot. What I remember vividly is getting a call about 18 years ago that my mother was hospitalized with a shingles rash from her neck to her groin covering nearly 1/3 of her trunk and was on a Dilaudid because it was the only way to keep her from screaming. So yeah.

I built a shelter for the feral tortie that has been sleeping on my porch to thank her for patrolling the yard and chicken coop all year. It will be bitterly cold next week and I hope she likes it. Maybe one day she’ll let me pet her. #catsky #tnr #communitycats
