It is crazy that Teen Vogue is far better than most journalism in the United States when it comes to many of the issues hitting people the hardest, and not just teens.

Teen vogue does what any journalism should. Be relevant to the times and the readership.

Journalists are becoming like Republicans writing mea culpas after they are out the door of power.
They rediscover their souls upon exit.
When they are no longer trying to keep favor from those they cover for access and prestige. No longer trying to appeal to the 1% owners and editor lackeys.

Republicans supporting Trump are fascists engaged in a fascist enterprise of their own doing. They aren't cowering but in cahoots. This is their project and their responsibility.They are cruel and vicious people engaged in a program of evil.
Dems need to stop thinking there is decency lying in wait.

The only bad thing about bad JB Pritzker is that he is a billionaire, and that it came from inherited wealth. 13 Pritzker billionaires on inheritance is more than the world needs.

Now if I had to choose one we might need JB Pritzker is probably that one. I admire the man, but I not as a billionaire

You haven't earned that pride. That is hubris of someone who doesn't stand for the people, but loves the corporate donor and is just proud of still selling tickets.

How about not supporting Genocide as a starter?
How about standing up for all Americans who aren't engaged in the cruelty of hurting other people?
How about treating suburban areas like a place that isn't a flyover between urban and rural? You know most of your own district.

This Supreme Court has intentionally knocked down the Constitution and the laws of America with "doctrines" whose "logic" those who created those laws would not see a true.
This is a court that ignores the words, ignores the precedent, and declares night is day and day is night.
It is corrupt.

Democrats who go for Cuomo are like Republicans who go for Trump. They forgot human decency is part of what makes a good leader. Mamdani surely has flaws, but he doesn't appear to be an abusive person with no integrity just out for himself and his own grandeur. He doesn't act like a sociopath.

Hitler was always just Hitler. That was always just the man he was. But those around him who put on the Nazi suits. They were just betas trying to be competitive in that world.

Uh. Nope. Trump is a deeply cruel person. Highly vindictive. The normalization "Trump is just who he is" doesn't cut it.

One of the things l like about Olivia Rodrigo is that she is such a talent in her own right but still gets so much joy playing with people whose music she grew up on. Its infectious.

This might be the best bike lane I have seen in America. Love it. And yeah, on faster, more arterial-like roads where the speed is very unsafe , I do advocate for these! I love how they protect both cyclists and pedestrians while creating a much more attractive street to top it all off.

12/ People don't need a pamphlet in the forest where they are lost, they don't need someone trying to immediately teach them how to use a compass and a map. They don't need someone offering to sell them a way out. They need the community that isn't on offer in our individualistic transactional world

11/ We need communities of care with people who learn how to help others and not always offload that to professionals immediately. We need best practices. We need to be each other's keeper with unconditional human regard, even if we might not respect a current course of action.

10/ The propagandists and proselytizers always want you. Not for you, but for them. But we live in a society where help comes if you have the money or a charity. Seldom with respect and belonging. We don't stabilize and lift people up before we expect them to hold their part of a community of care.

9/ And even when we try for community. It is a bespoke one time thing. It is good people cobbling together from scratch each and every time. We look for care only when someone we care about demands it. And when it is no longer our issue, we move on unless it has become a job to employ us.

8/ And the reason I say people. Not lonely boys. Because I have seen many women and girls have issues of connection and as a community we have no plan, no best practices. No idea that we are all each other's keeper.

7/ We don't have communities of care that are there for people in a way that the propagandists and proselytizers do. And when any time one turns to those for help, we just demean them for taking the wrong path, instead of helping into safety and stability before helping onto a path to flourishing.

6/ So many people on the left when a friend comes with an issue like this immediately go "You should go get professional help." Treating a person in need as an unwelcome problem. A shut-down not a relationship. Offloading the hard work of relationships. Go buy someone who cares.

5/ The far right offers that. It provides not what it totally promises, but it does provide initially a safe harbor before it makes demands. Does the rest of our transactional society of buying help do that?

4/ But what else is on offer? Mental health with stigma and often cost? A self-help book for sale with a bunch of add-ons they say will work? How much security, stability, and belonging are offered unconditionally in this society? Without making you feel like a charity case?

3/ It is all about making you a part of the group. To abandon self-identity to be reworked as a follower. But for people lost and looking for easy direction to security and belonging. That is what is on offer. It is only then that these groups put them to work for the group not the member.

2/ Both offer a promise of community, purpose and meaning. They offer inclusion upfront. Not behind a paywall. To someone feeling lonely, Propaganda and Proselytization gives a space before they attempt to co-opt a person's identity. It feels safe and lovebombing with promises of better.

1/ Propaganda and Proselytization is initially free. The first place many go for self-help is in the free portion of the internet. And "free" often has other motives. The purchase of product, the joining of group. It also offers an initial surface level acceptance not seen elsewhere.

The Democratic leadership has no plan for an America where people can flourish. They want a return to a pre-Trump status quo where the rich got richer and the poor got screwed

Dems can't stop being the party of large donors and corporations going Vichy for fascism to protect those same corporations

The democratic party "leadership" isn't even progressive where Palestine isn't involved. They aren't consistently against fascism, let alone genocide.

One reason this party lost to Trump is that it defends a status quo most Americans don't want, don't feel is fair, and won't thrive under.
