These terms were invented to get around filters and get monetised on TikTok. In that context, the implementation of the term is rooted in capitalism and censorship, which isn't great. It's also deeply off-putting to use it in a book where an adult nearly dies and goes, 'I was almost unalived!'

So many good titles I wanted at the thrift store today… Tropic of Cancer, Icefields, Inherent Vice, In the Heart of the Heart of the Country… then I looked with eyes unclouded, see the extreme amount of grime, put em back😂
I did leave with a nice hardcover of On Writing though!

Well, I made it through the "Cetology" chapter 😆 It was difficult at first but got easier/interesting. I found it funny that Ishmael changes names all within his own system. "This whole book is but a draught—nay, but the draught of a draught." -Melville about his own novel? He hasn't lost me yet...

I often see this cat when heading to work and I finally met him today. SO SWEET and followed me on my walk. No collar and a bit grungy feeling... but he seems well fed. It’s probably best he didn’t follow me all the way home 😆 I felt very happy getting to pet this sweet creature

It was recommended on my library’s website for those that liked Titus Groan. It’s funny my boyfriend had read it at a younger age too! I had never heard of it haha
