These terms were invented to get around filters and get monetised on TikTok. In that context, the implementation of the term is rooted in capitalism and censorship, which isn't great. It's also deeply off-putting to use it in a book where an adult nearly dies and goes, 'I was almost unalived!'

Here's my July reading wrap up! Most of these I felt really conflicted about; Casual, Nightbitch, & Light From Uncommon Stars in particular. I liked the themes presented in each and feel they are important but would have changed some things...

Among the greatest promotional photos of all time are these for the 1990 television movie of IT, where it looks like a prestige legal drama about a firm of hot young lawyers and one associate who likes to dress up like a clown.

This year decided to be better about to listening to full albums from beginning to end again. I've been stuck on shuffle for wayyy too long now...
Here are some albums I've discovered for myself that I currently can't stop listening to. The names are also listed in the alt-text!

I cannot see any reason why people with genuine disabilities would be out beyond these times.

7 years later and I still whisper, β€œWe’re disabled, Daniel, not werewolves” to myself like a sacred mantra whenever I see a non-disabled person discover ableism like it’s the latest hipster indie band.

So many good titles I wanted at the thrift store today… Tropic of Cancer, Icefields, Inherent Vice, In the Heart of the Heart of the Country… then I looked with eyes unclouded, see the extreme amount of grime, put em backπŸ˜‚
I did leave with a nice hardcover of On Writing though!

Well, I made it through the "Cetology" chapter πŸ˜† It was difficult at first but got easier/interesting. I found it funny that Ishmael changes names all within his own system. "This whole book is but a draughtβ€”nay, but the draught of a draught." -Melville about his own novel? He hasn't lost me yet...

I often see this cat when heading to work and I finally met him today. SO SWEET and followed me on my walk. No collar and a bit grungy feeling... but he seems well fed. It’s probably best he didn’t follow me all the way home πŸ˜† I felt very happy getting to pet this sweet creature
