telling stories to children

anyone want to let robots
do it for us?
In the third frame there is a recipe book open on a cake picture. Text reads :

Lots of hard, shitty lessons being learned from this presidency. And one of the many I hope you're learning is, white supremacy is incompatible with reality, and cannot exist without historical revisionism.

Intercepted communications link Indian government to B.C. Sikh leaderโ€™s assassination | Globalnews.ca British intelligence provided Canada with initial tip tying Indiaโ€™s government to temple leader's 2023 killing.

Iโ€™m honestly shocked that this story from @globalnews.ca has flown under the radar. Confirmation that Amit Shah, the second-most powerful man in the Indian government, was directly involved in the assassinations on Canadian soil. globalnews.ca/news/1151469...

I mean... In Vancouver it's hardly a far jump to go to the US for custom work. And there were (and likely still are) shops willing to do illegal custom work.

Used to be in BC cops would pull over drivers with lights that were "too blue", like even if they were white with a blue tinge. I'm thrown now when I see like under-lighting or other custom lighting that's blue. I guess the rule changed or they stopped enforcing it.

I always wait til after Nov 11. It's how I was taught... Give the veterans their day, then Christmas up this place. Up until about a decade ago malls followed the same thing, the 12th was decor day.

*note I'm in Canada and I think this is originally a Canadian/British rule/tradition.

What happened, @nytimes.com? Why not stand by your original headline? Because itโ€™s absolutely an accurate representation of this trash conversation.

To publish this at all should be a fireable offense - but to publish it as womenโ€™s rights are being decimated is deeply immoral, bordering on evil

A black-and-white historical photograph showing a large group of about 40 men dressed in formal early 20th-century attireโ€”long overcoats, suits, ties, and various hats including bowlers, fedoras, and top hatsโ€”gathered outdoors around a railway track. In the center foreground, an elderly man with a white beard, wearing a dark overcoat and top hat, is bent forward swinging a hammer to drive the ceremonial final spike into the rail. The crowd stands closely packed on both sides of the track, watching intently. The setting appears to be a remote, wooded area with tall pine trees and a cloudy sky in the background. The ground is rough and unfinished, with wooden ties and gravel visible. Small text in the bottom right corner reads โ€œDriving the Last Spike on CPR"

On Nov. 7, 1885, CPR financier Donald Smith hammered in the final spike on the Canadian Pacific Railway at Craigellachie, British Columbia.
The moment was captured in a photo, but there is more to the story, including multiple last spikes.
This is the story.

Moonstruck does have the benefit of an unhinged Nicholas Cage. Like. More than usual. Which is saying something.

Oh, and Witches of Eastwick is great fun. Her whole dynamic with Jack Nicholson is incredible. The long string of insults - amazing. And Nicholson is the best Devil.

The number of times I've said "Cher is a good actress" and people stare incredulously... Like. She won an Oscar. I do think she should have won for Mask rather than Moonstruck, but Meryl Streep won the year Mask was up, so... I also love Suspect.

Trade Group Representing Studio Ghibli, Other Japanese Companies Tells OpenAI to Stop Using Their Content to Train Sora 2 Video Generator Japanese content trade group CODA, whose members include Studio Ghibli, issued a letter to OpenAI demanding the AI company stop using their content to train Sora 2.

Haha yesss. Japanese copyright law doesn't fuck around.

Since I get challenged on this a lot: U.S. and Japan are both Berne Convention signatories, meaning the copyright is recognized between countries. They CAN go after American companies. And they are. And I love it.

Nothing to this one but venting: The transphobes are the most cowardly of bigots, people so terrified of what's in their pants & what's not in their hearts that they make it a calling to terrorize those who've done the work to know who they are. Mice have more courage, slugs have more grace.
