Also, easily one of the most beautiful motherboards I have seen. And the wide trace spacing, generous pad area, and well thought-out placement means you are much less likely to damage nearby components. This was just a joy to work on!

The NeXTstation is up and running! It is in phenomenal condition - even the battery still had 2.6V left (down from 3.0V). What an interesting and opinionated machine - they seem to have had some very clear ideas about how they wanted these to be used.

Here - had to run on a Power Macintosh 6100, it won't run in emulation. You have a "parry" and an "attack" (and throw), the "parry" is strong enough to stop the poke, but not the swing!

Yep, and the short range one is blockable! I'll see if I can record a video in a bit πŸ˜„

This is a neat idea - in Prince of Destruction, the guards carry halberds which do huge damage when they swing but switch the weapon round to do a poke with the staff end when you get close. Unfortunately there isn't much video available so I can't dig up a reference right now!

This is one of the reasons I'm so into retromacs - an actual Community of enthusiasts figuring stuff out and freely sharing knowledge and excitement with each other. And the focus is squarely on Doing, not Consuming. It rules and I hope everyone can find a hobby!

One gamedev-relevant example is texture/material processing and rendering, esp. if targeting lower end systems with GPU limitations

Huge boon to people into retrocomputers as well! Replacements for destroyed or missing plastics, custom mounts and brackets for new power supplies and PCBs, all freely and happily shared in the community.

A yellowed Macintosh SE/30 seen from behind. The PDS slot cover has been removed, the SCSI ribbon has been pulled through the slot, and a BlueSCSI has been attached. It kind of looks like the computer has dropped its guts out of its butt, and is turned away because it is ashamed.

Sometimes when you're fixing up an old compact Mac, it's best to run them in the extremely undignified "Prolapse Mode"

I can tell you right away that Batocera Linux, while really promising, is waaay to demanding for this poor thing πŸ˜… so Windows XP is the most likely outcome.
