The car just wants to be a bike.

They should also have to bike to work once a month (if able).

Agree -- I often come down to a walking/jogging speed to pass pedestrians if I'm on the sidewalk.

And also appear apologetic. I recognize it's their space but bikes sometimes don't have a space.

Haven't heard this term and aren't sure what you mean by it in this context.

"Stop blaming people for making the only sane choice."
100% agree.

For part of my bike commute I use the sidewalk -- it's just the only safe option for about 1.5km. I go slow, I ring my bell, I give pedestrians the right of way.

Options include:
- charge up everyone's EVs
- charge up batteries for overnight power
- water desalination
- incentivize heavy industry use at that time
- electrify heating
- data centres (AI training)
- fuel production

Excited to see the narrative flip from curtailment to empowerment. This is one of the benefits of renewable energy --> it produces near-zero marginal-cost power at peak hours!

What could we do with that superpower?

Highlights:
- 90% of processed lithium in America goes through them
- produced 60,000 metric tons of material last year
- current US fleet of 5 million EVs contains 2.5 million metric tons of material

Recycling lags initial production by 10+ years, and not many EVs were being made 10 years ago!

Redwood begins critical materials recovery in South Carolina, strengthening America’s stockpile Redwood brings operations online in South Carolina, adding an initial 20,000 metric tons of annual critical materials production.

What a beautiful reminder that the new economy first *reduces* resources required (from single- to multi-use), *reuses* in stationary applications, then *recycles* the remainder. The new economy isn't yet, but has a shot at being, fully cyclical.

Many cyclists don't realize this, but their bikes actually stop working when it's below 0.

Shoot -- I primarily cycle and bus.

The same people supposedly protecting women from sharia law are the ones who want to take away a woman's right to vote or divorce.

Love this design!

Even better would be if the small streets don't all need to meet the main street. I think it's totally reasonable for only 1/5 side streets to actually intersect the primary street and, when it does, it should do so only by turning right or having a traffic light.

Funny that a libertarian's favourite example of government is always the DMV and never the library or emergency services.

Being in or around cars is the most deadly thing we do on a daily basis. We can make cars safer (and we are), but this is a fundamental truth of physics.

I'm curious if AI is just a buzzword here. Certainly saying "When they hit this RPM switch gears" is not AI.
