I like to describe unusual looks, or something that is considered unattractive to many. Crooked nose, facial scars, deep-set eyes. I try not to describe each character's every feature, only what is unique to them. It's fun to describe the diversity.

For me it depends why authors do it. I like when maps are not just there to embellish the book, like illustrations, but also to help spatial imagination. For example, it's great to know how long it could take to walk between where the important plot points take place.

I love to write kind #characters, and I enjoy it when they do something good. Even if they had a traumatic backstory. I want to believe that their empathy and altruism can change something. Only then I have the feeling that my hard-hitting story makes sense.
