Jay studied her, adoringly, though she had no idea. Erin’s copper hair draped over the chair back, and complemented her lightly freckled skin. She had the build of a former tennis player, and was somehow innocently cute and devastatingly beautiful at the same time. 11/x

Erin sat with her back toward Jay and studied the agenda. Two fingers gently stroked her cheek. She closed her eyes at the comforting gesture. Then they shot back open in panic. Looking around, no one seemed to notice. “More coffee,” Erin thought as she pinched herself. 10/x

A calendar reminder announced the weekly staff meeting. Erin made her way to the conference room, and noticed Jay in his usual chair. He looked up and smiled. She felt something lightly tickle her side. Erin jerked, stifled a laugh and turned, but no one was there. 9/x

The shower was intense on her sensitive skin. Erin steadied herself against the tiles as their midnight tryst replayed in her head, the only place it ever existed. She wiped the steam from her mirror, and tried to find herself again. “It doesn’t mean anything,” she said. 8/x

Lust grew out of nowhere and controlled her like a puppet. Erin’s longing turned to uneasy desperation. Hours passed, and despite her arousal the dream no longer felt like her own. Her bed was soaked the next morning, sweat intermingled with her own excitement. 7/x

That night, Erin fell quickly into a deep sleep. Jay appeared in her dream, and they joked about their office exchange. "'Thanks. You?' Fine. 'Thank you.' Also fine. 'Thanks you?' What is that?" They laughed. Then they kissed. It almost felt like the very first time. 6/x

A shot of electricity ripped through her body, and Erin gasped. She found a way to excuse herself and bolted to her car, forgoing the usual tidying up of her office at closing. After catching her breath, she started the engine and began the drive home. "Really? Jay?" 5/x

They bumped into each other as quitting time drew near. "How is your, was... um, day been?" Erin's skin turned a shade of red that matched her hair. "You ok?" Jay asked, flashing her a somewhat flirty smile. "Oh, yeah. Thanks you?" He put his hand on her shoulder. 4/x

Erin and Jay were coworkers. Friendly, but not really friends. Yet she imagined him massaging her shoulders, smelling her hair and whispering in her ear as she muddled her way through work. Shivers traveled up and down her spine, and she crossed and uncrossed her legs. 3/x

"How ya doing, Erin?" He seemed different. More confident, maybe. She stole another glance as he walked down the hall. For a moment, she could feel his hand on the small of her back, even as he strode further away. "What has gotten into you?" she thought. 2/x

“Oh. Hi Jay.” Erin was flustered, the previous night's dream seared into her brain. She hadn’t thought about him that way before and wasn’t sure what prompted their unconscious encounter. "Calm down," she told herself. "It was just a dream. And it’s just Jay." 1/x
