Local legislatures must be held politically accountable to the People they serve. Perhaps when Congress can finally pass the "For The People Act" gerrymandering reform, State govts & State legislatures will be more responsive to the needs of their municipalities, instead of focusing on culture wars.

A city council wouldn't survive doing such a terrible job for local residents. Failed managers need to be voted out so things can improve for rural municipalities. People need to know their rights. Perhaps instead of volunteering to be a fire fighter, they could volunteer to be mayor & fix things.

Govt services should be paid. US citizens living in that municipality are undeserved if their local govt doesn't pay fire fighters, bc State govt doesn't fund basic govt services like fire & police dept.

These State govts cut taxes for rich donors & make rural citizens fight their own fires unpaid.

The "If she wasn't wearing that provocative dress 38 years ago, I wouldn't have raped her" excuse.

Republicans are flailing, they know their own guy is destroying the Country in their name, instead they use this opportunity to blame Democrats from 38 years ago, for their party leader's actions.

Some rural towns are governed by such a failed local government that they don't even have a fire department to out fires & respond to tornados & such emergency events, they rely on volunteers for such government services.

Some local govts have been doing real disservice to their residents.

Without either the other two branches enforcing Constitutional Rights against executive actions, we're in a limbo of quasi martial law until the lawsuits brought to enforce these Rights are fully adjudicated. Military members roaming the streets is only the latest visual manifestation of that limbo.
